I have been doing great since January!! Somehow everything came together for me then and I've been working hard ever since. I've been tracking both food and exercise pretty regularly. I had a few slip-ups but rather than let it derail me as it has in the past, I've just picked myself back up the next day or week and started back in again with tracking. I'm feeling better physically and emotionally and am very pleased with how things are going in my life right now.

Unfortunately I am a perfectionist and have always expected perfection from myself. When it comes to losing weight, it is impossible to live life and deal with all it throws at you and also eat and exercise perfectly all the time. That is why I chose my page title, love who you are. I need to learn to love myself no matter what weight I am, no matter whether or not I've done things perfectly. This is a work in progress and difficult for me. I'm reading several books right now on dealing with perfectionism and I'm hoping they will help.

In the meantime, I have been a member here for several years but have not utilized all the wonderful things available to help me lose weight (because, of course, I had to do it perfectly and always fell short and then would just give up). Now I've started again trying to just do the best I can. My first step was to set up my spark page and start tracking my food. My next step is to stick with it for the long run and start blogging about my current journey.

The photo on here of me in the green top was taken 2010 at a family reunion. It was such a shocker to me to see myself! You know how in our minds we still look like we did when we were in our twenties?! When I saw this photo I was like, "Who is this person?" But it did help me to get motivated once again.

First 10 %: 25 lbs (Done)
2nd 10 %: 22 lbs (Sept 1)
3rd 10 %: 20 lbs (Jan 1)
4th 10 %: 18 lbs (Mar 1)
5th 10 %: 16 lbs (June 1)
6th 10 %: 14 lbs (Aug1)

Continue a regular exercise routine.

Learn to like and love myself.

My Program:
Working on tracking my food and staying within my limits.

Regular strength training with dumbbells and body weight.

Regular cardio exercise: swimming and stationary bike

Looking into buying an elliptical for the winter to replace swimming.

Personal Information:
I am a 49 yo stay-at-home mom, living currently in central Virginia. Originally from upstate NY. We are a homeschooling family. My son is 15. I'd like to set a better example for him on how to live a healthy life.
