Taking the Plunge

I'm a stay at home mom of twins, and an aspiring graphic artist/photographer. I've been overweight since high school, but I've thought I was fat my whole life. I'm tired of feeling so tired all the time and I'm afraid if I stay on this path it will kill me before my time. I want my kids and husband to have a mom/wife they can rely on and have fun with for a long, long time.

My most important goal is to become healthier so I don't feel like every little twinge is a heart attack. ...

My most important goal is to become healthier so I don't feel like every little twinge is a heart attack. My secondary goal is to lose weight so I can experience that freedom of movement that thin people seem to have. One day I would love to be able to just run and have it not hurt terribly. I would also love to be able to shop in a regular store and not have to worry if they carry plus sizes.

My Goals:
*Eat mostly foods that have something to offer nutritionally.
*Exercise or do something active everyday for at least 15 min.
*Eat a lower sodium, lower cholesterol diet to improve blood pressure and heart health.
*Be more positive and caring with myself.
*Lose 140lbs by December 2012.

My Program:
I do at least two 4.4 mile walks per week. I also try to incorporate 1-2 yoga/pilates videos. I try to walk 10-12 miles per week total, using step aerobics (on my living room stairs!) instead at times. I've also been known to substitute DVD's, Dancing , Zumba, Pilates, Yoga and swimming. I try to alternate activities frequently so I don't get bored. I have hand weights that I use sometimes, but most of my strength training is from the Yoga/pilates.

Other Information:
I am a huge fan of reading, music of a wide variety, and t.v. My favorite shows at the moment are, White Collar, Parks and Rec, Chuck, House, Breaking In, Castle, The Office, Modern Family, Dexter, Shameless. Off air shows that I will forever love are Buffy, Firefly, Heroes and Pushing Daisies. I am a pretty big fangirl and love loads of actors including Matt Bomer, Zachary Quinto, Zachary Levi, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Milo Ventimiglia. I love music and am a die hard David Cook fan. Other favorite artists are Florence + the Machine, Mumford and Sons, Lady Gaga, Daughtry, Sublime, Regina Spektor, Adele, One Republic, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Joshua Radin, and SO many more! I also love listening to folk music, celtic music, and instrumental guitar and piano.

Happy Sunday. Hope you're summer is going great. Are you still on track to do all you can today to reach your goals tomorrow? If so, great! If not, what can you change today that will help you feel accomplished? One little thing. Drink more water? Cut out soda? Go for a walk? Small changes add up.

Happy Friday eve lady cakes! I hope that everything is going well! I'm very much ready for the weekend - what do you have planned to keep you on track through the weekend? I have a board meeting on Saturday that will be from 10am through 5 pm, other than that I don't have any plans but will probably end up cleaning my garage and doing yard work. Lets have a great end of the day and ROCK our weekends!!!
