Taking AIM on 2014!

I've been an "active" member of Sparkpeople since July 2010 and have lost over 100 pounds. One of the reasons I have had so much success it being a part of team-based challenges. They provide accountability, encouragement, motivation, camaraderie and push me slightly out of my comfort zone.

Jan. 2 - Ahoy! It's almost time for BEYOND THE SCALE and I'll be setting sail on the good ship ENCOURAGER with my fellow Pink Pirates! We are going to be focusing on small lifestyle changes on the journey to "Health & Fitness".

This has kept me making slow but steady progess toward "Health & Fitness". In 2014 I'm privileged to be part of a NEW challenge called BEYOND THE SCALE. This challenge runs in 10 week quarters and focuses on nutrition, fitness, wellness, motivation and education which when incorporated into our lifestyle result in weight loss.

My Goals:
1) Lose 10 pounds in BTS Q2.
2) Get 45000 steps a week minimum.
3) Strength Train 2 x a week.
4) Get to ONEDERLAND.

My Program:
I am eating within my calorie range and exercising 40-60 minutes a day. I continue to cook healthy foods and widen my food selections to include more fruits, vegetables, grains, and lean proteins. I track my food and fitness faithfully.

Personal Information:
I am married with one grown son, three dachshunds and an african grey parrot.

Hi---I have a question. I saw on your newsfeed recently that you said you did a second session on your elliptical. Is that at a gym or do you have one at home? I'm thinking of using my Christmas cash to get an elliptical for home because I think I would use it several times thru the day. If I go to the gym (where my DH works, so it's free to me), then I usually do just one session and sometimes I can't go a full hour like I want to. Just curious. I've been mulling this over for awhile---it seems like a lot to spend since I have access to a free one a 15 min. drive away. But I really think I'll do it more if it's right at home. Just curious. And thanks. (Gotta say that I love your blogs---and love seeing that 100 pounds lost badge----SO MOTIVATING!!!)

emoticon Ahoy My Pirate Friend!!!! Are you ready to set sail tomorrow!! Jump aboard and grab whatever it takes for you to get going! You don't want to start the first day by walking the plank!! (Perhaps you could try a plank instead, Heheheh). Welcome and let's make this 10 weeks sail successfully!!!!
