May 8th, 2013. I'm over 100 pounds down now. It's been a LONG journey and one that would have seemed defeating if anyone would have told me in the beginning it would take 2-1/2 years to make! That's the thing though. I just had to START and not give up. Yes there were setbacks. Yes, it's work, BUT it's doable! I was the WORST couch potato that ate horridly. I was bad at finishing things. If "I" can do it YOU can do it. Just START! Don't wait until tomorrow. Even if it's late at night ...

If "I" can do it YOU can do it. Just START! Don't wait until tomorrow. Even if it's late at night you can plan a healthy meal, make a healthy grocery list, do a few jumping jacks or drink a tall glass of water. Just do SOMETHING!
Jan 11, 2013 - It's a new year and I'm beginning a new round of BLC. My long journey continues. My short-range toal is to get to that milemarker 100 pounds down. It's going to take FOCUS. I must pay attention to the details: nutrition tracking, quality food choices, cardio, strength training, accountability and motivation.
I blogged about my "goals" for 2013 about two weeks ago and one of the things I said was that 2013 will be a year where I "stay the course". Come 2014 I will weigh less than I do now.
September 6th. Opening Day for BLC20! This will be my 7th round and I know I will make progress because I always do. I need the structure, accountability, support and PUSH to get out of my comfort zone in exercise and to keep closer tabs on my nutrition. How are YOU going to spend the next 12 weeks?
August 20th, 2012 - I'm two years into my journey. I've come a long way but have far yet to travel. The key is to just KEEP going! Sure there are obstacles and detours but I don't let them keep me from making the trip.
If you would like to participate in the next BLC (Biggest Loser Challenge) join this team to be notified the minute registration opens:
June 29th - I'm in my 23rd month of Sparkpeople and I'm down 76.6 pounds. Slowly but surely I'm making my way to "Health & Fitness".
May 31st - I have been actively sparking for 22 months now. I'm ounces from the 70 pounds lost mark and have a good second wind.
I am pleased that I have kept this weight off (almost 2 years now) and am slowly progressing on the 2nd half of my journey. Check my blogs for more updates on the how and why.
April 17th - I'm about to begin another 12 week challenge (BLC19). This challenge arrives with warmer weather which is conducive to outside fitness minutes! I plan to increase the length and intensity of my cardio workouts as well as take advantage of the plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables this season affords. (Sparkmail me if you would like to participate in BLC20).
Nov. 16th - This journey to "Health & Fitness" passes many waypoints. I try to learn from every one. I am learning that we need regular adjustments to keep the pressure on the pedal to make progress. Just like a clothes line over time that stretches, we have to keep ratcheting up our fitness and nutrition to continue to make headway.
I'm hoping to be in the pink with health! I had 3 years of very poor health living as a shut-in but after 2 total knee transplants and a shoulder repair I am walking again without a cane or a limp! I really appreciate my mobility having had none for so long.
I eat in calorie range and get about 60 minutes of fitness a day (45 on the bike and elliptical and 15 of ST). Now that warm weather is here I'm also gardening and walking outside. I love helping others utilize the site to the fullest.
I enjoy cross-stitching, old movies, good books, nature, birds, piano, cooking, traveling, weather, celebrations, family gatherings, my church and friends.
My Goals:
My short term goal is to lose 5 pounds before Jan. 16th.
Midrange Goal is to lose 30 pounds by June 1st.
My Program:
I am eating within my calorie range and exercising 40-60 minutes a day. I am learning to cook healthy foods and widening my food selections to include more fruits, vegetables, grains, poultry and fish. I track my food and fitness faithfully.
Personal Information:
I am married with one grown son, three dachshunds and an african grey parrot.
