Hi, I'm a 43-year-old working, married, mother-of-2. I'm a piano teacher, and I also have my own online sales business. I need to lose weight and get healthy and fit...for me and for my family. A couple years ago a friend introduced me to SparkPeople, and I'm glad she did! It's a great place, with lots of helpful tools...and when I use them, they work!
5/6/08: 32 pounds gone
2/2/09: 10 pounds gone (re-started after 8 month break and gain of 22 pounds)
3/2/09: 19 pounds gone
4/6/09: 28.5 pounds gone
5/4/09: 38 pounds gone
6/2/09: 45 pounds gone ~ over halfway to goal! Woo-hoo!
6/29/09: 51 pounds gone
6/7/10: 22.5 pounds gone (gained 28.5 pounds in the last year!!!)
2/21/11: 18.5 pounds gone
My goals are beyond the scale this time. While, I do want to lose weight, I want to be fit and healthy even more than I want to be thin.
1. Log 10,000 steps per day.
2. Drink at least 64 oz. of water daily.
3. Get my 5 servings of fruits/veggies in daily.
4. Exercise for a minimum of 150 min. per week.
I am trying to follow the dietary guidelines found in the book "YOU - On a Diet" by Dr. Oz. Basically, staying away from white flour, white sugar, unhealthy fats, etc. Eating lots of fruits, veggies, and whole grains!
I use the SparkPeople nutrition tracker to track my food intake every day ~ you can gain weight eating too much healthy food, too!
I live in sunny South Texas, and I am happily married with 2 beautiful children, ages 14 and 10.
I love to read, and I am also a closet eBay fanatic (both buying and selling).
