Hi, everyone.

I'm a 39 year old single woman living in Escondido, CA. I recently moved in with my parents, both to help and be helped.

I write stuff, usually for my own amusement. I sing in my church choir. I work at a job that is, for now, just a job. I hope to get a better one in the future.

Part of my life long difficulty with weight has been all the other health problems I deal with. These include depression, ADD, PCOS, and now, gluten intolerance. The good thing about discovering the gluten intolerance is that dealing with it has made my other problems much better.

I've been off site for over a year, but I'm starting back up and looking forward to getting healthier.

My Goals:
My goal is to live a physically and mentally healthy life. Currently, this means keeping up with my chronic illnesses - depression and PCOS - as well as making sure I accomodate my ADD. It means exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet, and being more physically adventurous than I am comfortable with. I hope to lose weight, but that is not the end all and be all of my goals.

My Program:
Exercise three times a week.

No more wheat, barley, or rye. This means, among other things, no bread, no pasta, no sodas, no beer, no pizza, and many, many other things. However, it's worth it.

Stretching and other stress reduction as needed.

Sunlight every day.

Other Information:
Favorite authors: Robin McKinley, Neil Gaiman, Barbara Hambly.

Favorite song: In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel

Currently reading: When All Hell Breaks Loose

Currently watching: Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett

emoticon How wonderful to be celebrating your five year Sparkversary. Keep going. emoticon

Do watch the YOUTUBE series "THE SKINNY ON OBESITY" with Robert Lustig M.D. whose book "FAT CHANCE" comes out in December. It is so helpful.

I'm reading Richard Johnson M.D.'s book "THE SUGAR FIX" and have learned so much about Metabolic Syndrome/Insulin Resistance. He has a wonderful lecture on Youtube.

Hey there -- I read your response on the "What gets you through" message board, and it cracked me up! ("ANYthing but the elliptical!!!") You're very amusing. We're close in age, and I also went gluten-free, and have PCOS and depression-type issues. Is it okay if I add you as a friend? (Just to warn you, I write VERY honest blog entries that are not always happy, upbeat or positive...but of course you're completely welcome to NOT read them. I won't be offended!) Have a great day! emoticon
