Learning Law and Losing Lbs.

I'm a law student in the DC area. Since I started law school, I've gained 70+ pounds. I want to get my life together in the next year, before I enter the workforce in Summer 2010. I've lost the weight before, and I'll do it again- but this time I'm at a new all time high.

Geez, you already got some spark goodies girl!!! I expect to see you go all out with your Sparkpage with pictures and colors. I want this page to ROCK OUT as we are going to do starting January 2nd. Its on baby!!!

Welcome to SP. There is a lot of support and great resources here. You will find many people struggling and succeeding with their weight loss. It isn't easy, but we can learn from each other and support each other. Make use of the Food Tracker and Fitness Tracker because they really do work! Find some teams that reflect your lifestyle and interests and that will help motivate you even further.

Katie - Welcome to Spark—you have just made the best decision to start your weight-loss journey. This is an amazing place for getting serious about losing weight! The support around here is amazing. Our mutual friend, Dresden, suggested I drop by to say hello! I've been in your shoes before: losing weight (67 lbs total) only to gain some of it back. Let's be honest, fad diets and drastic measures that deprive us of happiness just don't work. What does work is making small lifestyle changes, being patient with the process, and taking it one day at a time. Be good to your self, and your body WILL respond.

Here's some other helpful tips I've discovered on my journey:

- Track food DAILY.
- Make the food/exercise tracker public for accountability.
- Weigh in weekly.
- Plan for daily exercise. Put it on the schedule.
- Recruit an exercise buddy.
- Start slowly with exercise and build on exercise minutes as your fitness increases. Be gentle to your body.
- Post to your Spark team.
- Blog honestly about your progress.
- Set goals for yourself. Review them often to make sure you're meeting them.
- Don't beat yourself up! Positive self-talk can do wonder for you!!!
