SparkPeople has made a huge difference in my life! With SP, the trackers made the difference! I need accountability and not meetings. Thank you SP!!

OOPS-when the websites upgraded, my numbers got messed up. I actually started my journey 6 months before joining SP. I'd lost 10 pounds, starting at 175. The ticker shows my weight at start, but other places it shows me as starting at 150 something... Anyway, the truth is freeing!! SP makes the difference!

I can do all ...

emoticon very much Penny for your kind comment on my blog 'Hiking under a threatening sky'... To answer your question, the old woman with dementia sees the little garden of the Alzheimer's unit as 'hers' for some reason, although she never goes there. But she hates it when people go there too!!! And to be honest most people accept that and simply don't go. Well, I am taking my mother to the garden each time I am there if it isn't raining. So this is why she hates me!!! What amazes me is how someone with Alzheimer is actually able to remember some things (like the fact that she hates me!). When she attacked me, she had just closed the door to the garden I had pushed open before I went back with the wheelchair. When I tried to reopen the door, she jumped on me. The male nurse who spoke with me afterwards said I simply need to stop going to the garden. I thought he was joking! This is one of the very few pleasures my mother has left! So this won't happen, I'll going there. And they need to watch out for this woman so that she doesn't attack me again. I might need to report it to the police though, as a friend told me if I hurt her when trying to defend myself, I would be the guilty one! It all makes me so sad because we find this nursing home to be much much better than the previous two my mother has been in.

Now, to go back to the weather, I really hope Fall won't be too early here this year. I'll be travelling for work most of September, and I love October, and November too (November is the time when leaves change color in the Paris area). Anyway... enjoy your summer, no matter how wet it is! :)

Thanks for the heads up about low carbs and osteopenia. Since my doctor had already mentioned osteopenia to me, and I underwent parathyroid exploration surgery in 2009, it's a good personal caution. What I'm doing now seems to be working, both for training table and for weight management, but I'm wondering if there isn't something a little better for digestive/gut management (i.e. "gas").

The main impetus in reading the book was a recommendation from my niece to her mom (her mom, my sis, is a Crohn's survivor). Her needs are indeed different from mine... but since the book was recommended for her, and I want to understand what's being pushed in her direction, I'm kind of defensively reading up on it. Also, I had read BOBCATGIRL's blogs about her experiment with the plan... so it's getting some exposure.

Knowledge is power, as they say! emoticon
