Healthy for Life

I am a lifelong nutrition and fitness buff, and I just got back to my fighting weight (again). I would generally say that I'm a good old-fashioned health nut. I love to run, bike, hike, and play outside. I love healthy cooking and healthy eating. I eat my fruits and vegetables.

And yet sometimes, for months at a time, I turn my back on fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Blame it on depression. Blame it on winter weather. Blame it on the lingering effects of growing up in a family ...

And yet sometimes, for months at a time, I turn my back on fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Blame it on depression. Blame it on winter weather. Blame it on the lingering effects of growing up in a family where all of the women, including me, had eating disorders.

I am so sick of gaining and losing the same 30 pounds. I am a classic yo-yo dieter, and I have been bouncing my way up and down the scale for more than 10 years.

I am DONE!
I am done with dieting.
I am done making bad choices because I think I don't deserve better.
I am done sabotaging myself when I start to succeed at weight loss.
I am done with the self-destructive behavior that caused my extreme weight fluctuations in the past (binged my way up, starved my way down).
I am DONE with all of that and more.

I have decided that this is the year that things change for good. I have already made some really good changes, and I know there are more to come.

Thanks for the comment. Yep, some things are going really well, at least outwardly!

This whole thing about making positive changes in my behavior that will help me remove the rest of the weight and keep it off sometimes takes a lot out of me. I may have developed a mild case of orthorexia in the process, but given the circumstances (dire obesity), I suppose it's warranted!

Tonight I have water aerobics and swimming, but tomorrow night I'll get home early enough from spinning to take the new yak out, and I can't wait!

THANK YOU so much for the comment on my blog. It's good to know that others are battling the same thing. I just feel like I can't get going though--a lot of people are able to get some control over their eating but I always fall off the good eating....I'm really going to try starting today to blog my eating and stay in control.

Thanks for the comment on my blog emoticon it's nice to know that my experiences can help others along the way. This for me is a total life transformation....hopefully someday soon I can be a health buff too....exercise, I just can't see it yet! I won't rule it out though. That's the next wall to bust through!
