Healthy for Life
I am a lifelong nutrition and fitness buff, and I just got back to my fighting weight (again). I would generally say that I'm a good old-fashioned health nut. I love to run, bike, hike, and play outside. I love healthy cooking and healthy eating. I eat my fruits and vegetables. And yet sometimes, for months at a time, I turn my back on fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Blame it on depression. Blame it on winter weather. I am a lifelong nutrition and fitness buff, and I just got back to my fighting weight (again). I would generally say that I'm a good old-fashioned health nut. I love to run, bike, hike, and play outside. I love healthy cooking and healthy eating. I eat my fruits and vegetables. And yet sometimes, for months at a time, I turn my back on fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Blame it on depression. Blame it on winter weather. Blame it on the lingering effects of growing up in a family where all of the women, including me, had eating disorders. I am so sick of gaining and losing the same 30 pounds. I am a classic yo-yo dieter, and I have been bouncing my way up and down the scale for more than 10 years. I am DONE! I am done with dieting. I am done making bad choices because I think I don't deserve better. I am done sabotaging myself when I start to succeed at weight loss. I am done with the self-destructive behavior that caused my extreme weight fluctuations in the past (binged my way up, starved my way down). I am DONE with all of that and more. I have decided that this is the year that things change for good. I have already made some really good changes, and I know there are more to come.
