5% Winter

Dec. 2015
I thought weight loss would be easier once retired. I'd have more time. Not so. I have been so blessed to do a good bit of travel this summer. I have stayed in hotels a lot, been on a cruise (food everywhere), been on a bus tour ( no way to eat other places, only where taken) and I have not lost. I'm struggling to just not gain. I do try to make good choices. I will be out of town visiting one of 3 daughters until Jan 2. I plan to come home, check out the YMCA in the town close ...

I hope I can work that out. If not I will continue walking in good weather, using DVDs in bad weather.

I am so in need of this to restart. After the spring 5% I took off for Washington state to visit my daughter.. I can't wait to be home and back to walking daily.

I have been trying to do this on my own and haven't done so well. I am trying a 5% again and I hope I have learned enough to be able to do better this time.

Oct. 2013
I have changed team on 5% once again. This time my doing. I will be on cruise with no internet during this challenge so it was suggested I try travelers team. I have enjoyed getting to know new friends on this team. With members in and out on trips, we may never be in first place, but we're working on our goals the best we can.

July 2013
Time for a change. I have been doing the same thing for some time now without success. It is time to find a way to make some more changes. Right now a lot of possibilities are running through my mind. I need to get my thoughts together and make a real plan now that I have retired. My failure to plan differently with my retirement has been a plan for failure.

Beginning 5% Challenge very soon. This is my last year to teach. I will retire at the end of the school year. This will bring about a lot of changes. I hope the biggest change will be weight loss and healthier living.

My Goals:
1. Walk 2 miles a day 5 times a week.
2. Add more veggies and fruits to meals.
3. Lose 1 or 2 lbs a week.
4. Have a smoothie
or low cal soup for one meal each day.
5. Increase to 3 miles during challenge.
6. Track my food daily, every day of challenge. Cut back on dark chocolate, I think it is holding me back.












My Program:
1.Exercise at lease 30 min. 5 days a week. This will include WATP & Fit, Firm & Fired up DVDs.
2. Eat more veggies and fruits, using Hungry Girl recipes and Spark recipes.
3. Replace one meal a day with a smoothie or soup.
4. Walk first thing in the morning.
5. Add strength training back..

I am a retired school teacher. I have traveled some since retiring. I also started knitting and crochet. My projects are either for the church prayer shawl ministery, or my grandchilren.

DH and I have 3 beautiful daughter, all married now, and 7 wonderful grandchildren. We hope to see more of them in retirement.

Other Information:
I really need someone to help me be accountable to track my food. I need to work harder to find the time to get this done.
