    Happy Holidays!

    I havenít been on Sparkpeople for a week or so, Iíve been a little busyÖ but thankfully still keeping at it. Iíve been working out, I just have to curve my eating habits. How is everything with you? I hope all is going well. Before we know it Christmas will be here! Iím not close to being readyÖ uh oh!

    I think most of us have lost and gained. Seems we get some momentum and then something happens and back to the old habits we go.

    Don't be discouraged because that will bring you down and back to the vicious circle of feeling sad, eating to feel better, feeling worse because you just ate, eating again etc etc...you get the picture.

    The thing is to get yourself back on the wagon before that vicious circle begins. Slow and steady does it. Take it one day at a time as if every day is the very first day of your journey because it is a journey. Not only of weight loss but of self-discovery.

    You've come to the right place in asking for help. We're all in this together...let's do it! WooHoo!

    Let's just say that your weigh-in does show you have gained your losses back. There are no failures, it is just practice, right, until you get it right. I remember thinking "I will never use the food tracker". It didn't matter that it was rated the best tool on this site. Or that so many of the success stories on this site said that they credited the food tracker with helping them succeed. Nope, too much work. Confusing. Too much time. Not worth it. Huh.

    So, lol, I am tracking my food now. Funny how I would have sworn I was eating 3 vegetable servings a day. Had no idea how many calories were in a bagel. Started thinking twice about ordering fried with a hamburger because I didn't want to count them before I put them in my mouth.

    However the weigh in goes, say thank you. It's not the only sign you should be looking for, that you are doing this the right way, but it might be a niggle towards changing how you are doing the spark program. If you are not being consistent, maybe consider doing a challenge. There are lots. Spark streaks for drinking water, or logging in every day, penny jar challenges for collecting spark points. No one expects you to do it all, and do it all perfectly. We are mostly a bunch of people who have had a bit of problem with that ourselves!

    I went to a psychologist and thought, where do I start. My problems are all overwhelming. And she said it doesn't matter. We are going to start with one situation or thought on your mind. Dealing with that one little bitty problem taught me a bunch of skills that I could apply to a hundred more problems. SP is the same. Choose one thing. Succeeding at that one thing, no matter how trivial it seems, is going to give you some skills you didn't have before.

    We all have times we feel we screwed up, right? Your weigh-in may not be so bad as you think. It takes 3500 extra calories to make a pound! It doesn't matter what the scale says anyway. You are on a journey to health and you are not defined by a number on the scale. You may fall but you will get up again. I know you can do it! emoticon
