Lost 22 lbs a couple years ago -- managed to keep them off, and happy to be back to lose another 20. Wish me luck, all. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is trying to turn their life around and make a positive change for the better -- body, mind, and soul. I can tell you from past experience that it is possible. I made that change awhile ago, and by the grace of God, I have not turned back since. Inshallah we will all be blessed and succeed at obtaining our goals. In the meantime, please take care and stay blessed and enjoy what's left of your weeks. :)
I have found that by losing a little bit of weight at a time, and by keeping your goals realistic, it is much easier to complete and maintain them; therefore, my goal is to lose a minimum of 2 lbs a month until October, at which point I will be down another 20 lbs to 140. My ultimate goal is to reach 135 lbs.
I will just go back to what I was doing to lose the first 22 lbs -- walking every day, eating healthy, and thinking positively, and finding what makes me happy and fulfilled in life. Really, a lot of completing one's goal includes making sure that you are not only looking and feeling good physically, but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and without these added factors, one is far more likely to sabotage their positive efforts and desires to succeed, no matter how strong they may be. :)
I am from Northern California (SF Bay Area)
Need something inspiring to help you get motivated? Try taking a fitness class at your local college. Go on Amazon.com and purchase the textbook "Fit and Well" -- you will find a whole world of knowledge and inspiration in that book. Without that book, my walking and fitness classes I took in the past and this site, I would never have reached my previous weight goal and been able to maintain it for the past 3 years.

Thanks for reading my blog. Before we started our trip I did some prep work and meal planning. While in New Orleans, we were in a hotel that had a partial kitchen with a stove but no oven and a microwave. The room came with minimal dishware, toaster & blender.
I brought along whole wheat bread, Romaine lettuce, marinated artichoke hearts, some cans of tuna in olive oil, nuts, dried and fresh fruit (apples & blueberries because they travel well), Beef jerky, and some steelcut oatmeal that I'd cooked the night before we left. We bought milk for cereal when we got to New Orleans.
Except for one morning in New Orleans, we had breakfast before going out. The day we didn't eat breakfast was the day my hubby wanted beignets and cafe au lait for a mid morning meal. The other days varied, depending on where we were and what we'd planned. We mostly had light snacks for lunch or dinner to compensate for the meal we'd eaten out.
One day my hubby ordered a whole Muffaletta for lunch, a sandwich on a very large round bun. It is made with an Italian marinated olive mix, Genoa salami, ham, mortadella, provolone and mozzarella cheeses. It is usually large enough to feed 2 to 3 people. But he got it so he could have leftovers for another day. He had a lunch and a dinner out of the leftovers. One day I made tuna salad sandwiches for a light dinner because we'd eaten a heavy lunch. One evening we took the evening Dinner River Cruise. We enjoyed the evening on the river and the food was ok, but not great.
Hubby was very patient with me regarding my exercising. I did my exercises in the morning as soon as I got up to be sure they were done. Then we'd go off for the morning and come back late afternoon. Hubby had to have an afternoon nap. Then in the evening we went out again for a few hours. So we did a lot of walking.
On the trip back all the motels we stopped at had microwaves & small refrigerators. So hubby had instant oatmeal with fruit and nuts. We took several days to travel back home because hubby is a Civil War Buff. We visited several Civil War Battlefields, so got a lot of walking in on the way home.
I was determined not to gain any weight on our trip, but still have a good time. This is our first trip that I was able to maintain my weight. I won't say it was easy, but it was doable. Exercising in the morning I believe made all the difference.

Just read your comment about cleaning your house instead of working. My house is very clean because I do the same thing! If I would just spend half the time doing work as I do cleaning, I'd have no problem getting things done.
