I am 58 years old, in pretty good general health. I have always enjoyed good health in my youth and I plan to enjoy good health as I get older. I am somewhat overweight (actually I edge over into obese). I have osteoarthritis in my knees & those no doubt would be somewhat alleviated by achieving my optimum weight. I figure that healthy habits including fitness, mental attitude, healthy eating patterns are all good tools to help me on my journey. So when I happened on a reference to this site on a blogpost, I came over to have a look and decided that this is the tool for me. I can even calculate the nutrient facts for my recipies! I like it!

I found SparkPeople a few weeks ago and spent my first while getting familiar , developing a regular habit of logging food & activities , entering recipes etc..
Now its time to take the plunge & target the excess weight I've been carrying around so diligently.
My initial target is to dislodge 25 pounds. We'll see at that point if I should reduce any more or maintain the new healthier weight.
It is Nov 11, 2010 and perhaps it's the remembrance of people efforts in the past that have so benefited me that has inspired me to commit to this effort today. emoticon
