This last year has been a revelation. One of the most important things I've learned is that I often sell myself short. I am stronger than I ever thought I would be. I've been through the fire and have emerged as a finely formed gem. My faith is stronger than ever because all the glory is His. I've been given a gift of understanding, compassion for myself I've never had, and healing. This had to happen before I could let go, and once that happened I let go of a mass of weight that I allowed to inhibit my true self.

What I have found within myself is within all of us. We have to stop, listen, learn, and let go. Join me in the light.

Nuggets of wisdom learned:
**You aren't what you EAT but what you THINK.
**What others think of you (and that includes family) is none of your business.
**The quickest way to address cravings is a walk around the block.
**What you THINK you need and what you REALLY need may be two different things.
**Open your mind to possibilities--be adventurous.
**Forgive yourself--God has already forgiven you.
**A grateful heart is a happy heart.
**Joy is contagious; whereas, self pity and negativity is catching.

My Goals:
It's time to renew my goals because I've definitely slept since I first wrote them.

Yearly goals:
I want to at "at goal" by the end of August.
I want to be in church more Sundays than not.
I want a consistent exercise program I can stick to.
I want to write--journaling, and I'm working on a couple of books.

The month of January:
Exercise (walk, stability ball, foundation exercise, cycle, pool) at least 3 time each week.
Track my nutrition.
Be in church more Sundays than not and find a good bible study.
Write at least twice each week.



My Program:
Keep a journal of eating, emotions, physical activity, and any health problems.
Cook healthy dinners and limit eating out.
Choose only restaurants that serve healthy entrees.
Avoid sugar and sugar substitutes.
Exercise at least 30 minutes three times a week.
Post on Sparkpeople and use the trackers every day.



Personal Information:
I made it through the grief and heartbreak and am coming out on the other side. In 2016 I lost almost 90 pounds. It has been life changing. I need to take off an additional 50 pounds to get to goal. I started out as "morbidly obese" and am about to be in the "over weight" category. I love to read, and I have developed a love for what I call "water dancing." I go to the pool with my waterproof MP3 player, listen to "my tunes," and dance in the water (e.g. polka, two step, jog, waltz). I work out my legs, hips, and upper body using water resistance. It's so much fun that an hour passes very quickly.


Other Information:
I still love to read and travel. When I get to goal, hubby said he would take me back to Scotland. I just have to make sure my mobility is good because in Scotland, you climb stairs. LOL! Harley, my cockapoo, helps to keep me active, and he is the most loving animal I've ever had. Over the last year, I've realized how much of my efforts to lose weigh are psychological. I am an emotional eater. There was a time not too long ago that I was in a very dark place. However, my faith, family, and little Harley have helped me move beyond the dark and into the light.
