Weigh Too Much

I live in SW NH with my five cats and need to stop isolating so much. My weight gains has made this a very hard lifestyle to shed (pun intended).

My Goals:
Working on losing 101 lbs

I have a really nice bicycle that I bought and have never ridden, want to get fit enough to ride it. I also need knee surgery, so getting fit enough to have that done is also a goal.

But most importantly I want to feel healthy and good about myself.

My Program:
I have found that for me tracking every once and nutrient that I put into my mouth is time consuming and thus I find myself thinking a lot about food. So what works for me is a little black food book. I write what I eat in it most of the time...it does two things for me
1. Keeps me from obsessing
2. It keeps me aware
It works for me
The other part of my program is not to use deprivation. I have found that deprivation for me leads to overeating. I do not have trigger food in my house, but if I am at a gathering or what not I allow myself to have it....or on occasion I will purchase what I am craving.
I spend some time regularly reading about the latest news and findings about what makes people fat. For example almost everything has high fructose corn syrup in it. I have found that eliminating HFCS from my diet I crave refined sugar less and fruits and vegetables more. This program of sorts has been what has worked for me.

Hi, Pattie. How are things going with you? I hope you stop by the Daily Chat on the 'Over 60 . . .' team. Let us get to know you better. We're having a virtual '4th of July Party.' Will we see you there?

Pattie: Welcome to SparkPeople, it is a wonderful place to be, and welcome to our team. It took me a while to find some of the things I needed to get around this site. Reading the articles and spending some time just playing around with things helped a lot.

Hugs, CJ from OK.
