Getting There - One Step At A Time...

This is my second try at Spark People. I quit a while back because I was no longer doing anything but going through the motions. During 2013 I lost the 5 pounds I gained in 2012, but still have a long way to go. I don't know if I will reach my goal in 2014, but I will consider the year a success if I end it at a lower weight. I didn't gain it overnight, and I don't plan to lose it overnight either.

My Goals:
My 2014 Goal is to lose 30 pounds.

My longer term goal is to lose 60 pounds.

I want to continue my exercise habits to improve my fitness level and stave off the heart disease and diabetes that run in my family.

My Program:
Tracking my food is the most important tool! Working out 3 times a week at the gym with 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training. Walking at least 2 days a week for 30 or more minutes. My diet is not a formal diet plan. It is to eat healthy and stay within my calorie range for the week.

Personal Information:
Originally from Parma, Ohio, have lived in New Jersey, and now in the Orlando Florida area. Married, no kids. I'm 61, and hoping that this year will see me slimmer and healthier!

Other Information:
I love to read, travel and go to the theater. I also enjoy walking outside, but try to do it early in the day before it gets too hot!

"Every day of our lives we are faced with a choice.
The choice to BE, or to be truly AMAZING.
Ask yourself if what you're doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.
No matter who you are, or what you do, you absolutely, positively do have the power to TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE."

The cold weather is getting to me, but it will not win the war. What is getting to you and slowing your progress? Let me know and I will gladly pray with you for your victory. Whatever the challenge, let's keep the main thing the main thing and find the victory there. Enjoy the journey, and remember, progress--not perfection. Change comes here a little and there a little as we stay the course. Remember that true success is in how we make the journey, not the destination. If we lose all our weight but fail the change the habits that put us there, we may feel victorious in reaching the destination, but it will be short lived if we don't find the victory needed on the journey of true change. emoticon emoticon emoticon Darlene emoticon Go Mustangs! There is victory in the journey lived well.

"Dreaming is wonderful, goal setting is crucial, but action is supreme.
To make something great happen you must get busy and make it happen.
Take that action step today that will put you on your path to achievement."

Thanks for visiting my blog. Artificial sugars are just as bad. It was Equal that killed my stomach bacteria in 1982 and Splenda which activated my autoimmune hepatitis in 2004. Our bodies do not recognize artificial foods and do not know what to do. So they either store it as fat, since they assume we know what we are eating, or assume that it is an invader and attacks the organ it sees it coming from. Or worse yet, it thinks it is something else and allows our cells to create cancer. Our bodies are trying to communicate and we are blocking the process.

Worry over the future breeds anxiety. Fretting over the past breeds depression. Both can stop our good movement forward and put us in front of the TV with a bad movie and too much of the stuff we don’t need to put into our bodies. That horrid cycle, of course, breeds regret and dread that brings us to more of the same. I believe that is called “insanity”.

Instead work to stay in the present taking the next step needed for living to the full the “now” that is before you, having learned better ways from past experience and pushing forward with hope that right action now will produce a better tomorrow. This is living life with power that produces a good outcome and protects our journey from wasting away.

Plan for the future, yes; but let the first plan be to live your best you in the now you have to possess.
