Now, there is no better way to be motivated than to have buddies and Spark People friends (see you've got involved in several teams so find a few people in the same shoes) -these will make a whole difference.

Also, depending on your hight, you might not need loosing 20 or 30 pounds, but just getting fitter (getting muscle can also add a few pounds as muscle is heavier than fat). Make plans of adding cardio on a daily schedule - brisk walks for 30 mins per day will do at first; and also start some strength exercizes and stretching (stretching makes all the difference, I can tell you).

Usually what also makes a difference is tracking - of food and exercize. This keeps you balanced. I've seen that eating throughout the day is important (don't skip meals). But you can still save some calories to add a healthy evening snack. I have found that eg. Wasa rye Knackebrod with a little cottage cheese or jam or even ham does wonders for me in the evenings.

Oh sorry, did not mean to overwhelm you with (known) advice. But, if you want, we can discuss this some more later. (For this adding food and fitness trackers on your Spark Page could be helpful). Wishing you the best of luck. Just don't give up.
