Not a surprise, given family history. My mother died at age 69 from complications of Type 2 Diabetes; I'm not going to let diabetes win!

I will return to logging what I eat, and exercising faithfully.

My Goals:
1) exercise regularly
w/walking 3 days a week and other strength building exercises 2 days a week
2) be a positive roll model to my daughter (17)
3) l lost over 10% of my weight between Sept 2012 & January 2013. Goal as of Feb 1st is to lose another 10% or 18 lb. At that point I will be within my goal range.
4) Manage newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetes, preferably w/out meds


My Program:
February 1, 2013

1) Walk at least 10,000 steps a day, 3 days a week
2) Strength training 2 days a week, esp for upper arms, thighs, and body core
3) track and log food on SP
4)use Fitbit to track steps


Personal Information:
I am a Lutheran pastor, married for 30 years and a mother to 3; our youngest and only daughter is 17.

I love to read and am more 'in my head' than physical, as is my husband, so I have to be intentional about getting exercise.

Other Information:
I learned about SparkPeople from The Spark, which I loaded onto my Kindle (I LOVE)...

I ran 3 miles today. I had to walk a mile and a quarter in intervals to do it, but I made it. I feels like a major accomplishment! How is your running going?
