Papamikie

My Name is Michael but I go by Papamikie or Popie, (POP EE) for short. This handle fits, as I am known as “Aden’s Popie” on our street where most of the young kids call me Popie and Leanna, Gramie. We typically supervise the afternoon and evening play on our quiet crescent during the warmer spring, summer and fall months.

Decided to take off some weight May 2008. Four years later I am a Tai Chi Chuan player, a runner and a Chi Running and Walking Instructor

My daughter said, "Popie, Gramie and I have been worried about you, and I think Little Bug, needs to have you around for awhile..."

The rest, as they say, "Is history."

That is Little Bug (Aden) with me in the before and after shots.

Began at 244 and am presently 160 (165-155 I like a range better). To begin it was an effort to do 15 minutes of light cardio, now I typically do mix of runs from 7.5k to 18K at 130-145 bpm pace about 10 k/hour.

Jun 11 2011 10km with Curt. I let Curt start near the front I started at the back. He was going for a PR and I wanted to be out of the way. At the back there was a woman with a baby strapped to the front of her. She said that her husband had been called out of town on business and they did not allow strollers in the 10km therefore the baby in front. She said, “Man I hope I pass at least one person.”

I told her I would run out in front and she could pass me, I also said that I would be under an hour so she could tell people who asked about her time that she was not sure, but that she passed a guy who was in under an hour.

I also plan to begin formally teaching Chi Running in 2011.

I write irregular blogs on Running, Chi Running , Tai Chi Chuan and other things that strike my fancy.

hi there--thanks for stopping by my blog--I agree with you--food intolerances are a maze of weird information, misinformation and really complete confusion. the website I linked to clearly was flogging a book, which puts a bit of a spin on it. the thing I found the most disturbing was the fact that the original wheat cultivar is no longer around (hopefully its in a seed bank somewhere) so that if this were determined to be true we might not be able to go back to growing something in its original state. the genetic manipulation of plants really disturbs me--I don't even think we have the tools to evaluate how this is affecting our bodies and our lives.

Thank you for reading my blog and your helpful insight about change. I know I will benefit even more when I see the change in the mirror that will come when I reach some of my goals. My new lifestyle and the changes I'm making with the food I put into my mouth will help. I also need to cultivate some patience as I practice what I need to do to make any change possible. I'm off to practice now... Thanks again! emoticon emoticon

Mike thanks for your comment on my blog. You are spot on and I really appreciate the support:) Funny how people are "worried" about me now with all these whole, natural foods in my body who weren't saying anything as I slowly killed myself with toxins...

Michael, I read one of your blogs about your sister & checked out your Spark Page.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister but she's in a better place & no pain. I can relate, I lost my mom, grandma & brother all in a 3 year span about 3 years ago. emoticon emoticon

Congrats on your weight loss! You look & probably feel like a new person! I'm hoping to do as well as you! emoticon emoticon

What is Chi Walking? I'm not quite ready for the running part yet... But someday! emoticon
