My Goals:
My goals is to lose weight and tone up. My goal is to make this a lifestyle change and learn how to have portion control eating healthier choice, drinking more water and becoming more active.

My Program:
Right now I am eating a high fiber low carb diet. I have hypothyriod condition and my doctor suggest that. So I eat a starch, protein, fruit in the morning. Lunch- protien, starch, fruit, and dairy. Dinner, protien and cup of cook green veggies. Snacks normally my fruit from my meals, raw veggies, pickles. Sometimes I eat a serving of nuts or popcorn.

I couldn't agree with 1drwoman more!

Take one step at a time, 1meal at a time, 1 day at a time. I started out by just honestly tracking everything I ate -- good, bad, or ugly. Then I added something else. (The details of my stepsare on the right hand side of my SparkPage.)

When you're following a certain calorie range, if you eat something you shouldn't, get right back on track with the very next thing you eat. That will help minimize the damage, and it will keep you in the game mentally. If you're hungry all the time, chances are you're either not eating enough protein or drinking enough water. Or you may be struggling with stress and wanting to eat your emotions. If that's the case, write down your feelings to get at the core of it, then go find something to do to keep your hands busy. (I give myself a manicure.)

Hang in there! You can do it!

Hey Pamuldrow!
I think you're starting've just decided to take a new path on your journey. You have started the journey and came to a couple dead ends and had to turn around and get back on the main can do this.

80% of weight loss is what you put in your mouth. I recommend for a week or two, just tracking your food and getting into the habit of fitting that into your day. I suggest taking 1 day a week and planning your week worth of food so you don't have to think about it. It helps and then you're not forced to "wing it" during the week when things in your day and schedule don't go as planned. pre-packing in baggies and containers helps heaps!

Then start moving...I belong to Anytime fitness so I don't have any excuses. I also have a Wii incase I don't feel like going to the gym either! But again...don't get so wrapped up in exercising in the AM that you don't get it done at all. Just get it done when you can. Even if it's 10 minutes 6 times a day! Jillian Michaels circuits are nice because they challenge you, get your cardio and weights in and all within an hour. Winning By Losing is her first book and I love it!

Just decide to focus on one thing each week or you don't feel overwhelmed...aftera couple weeks, it will become second nature and you'll just be a wee weight loss machine. :) let me know if I can help with anything!

Congrats on taking the next step to reaching a healthier you by getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support.

Please check out the SparkTeams - I think you will find a lot of others 'just like you' there. You can choose SparkTeams by age group, lifestyle or interests, geographic location or several other ways - some of the teams you might like include the Official 10-minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge, Starting Over Weekly Mini-Challenge Team, 10k Steps A Day and Motivation & Positive Attitude Plan but there are so many to choose from, you can have a great time looking for the ones that seem to fit you best! In fact, I suggest joining more than one group, post your intro there and write blogs as often as you can - you will find tons of friends and support that way, I promise!!

In my experience, SparkPeople is like a emoticon in some ways - it's lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' so it's good for people wanting to lose weight, maintain a previous loss, get healthier, improve fitness and many other goals - it's about waaaaaay more than 'just' losing weight so you have definitely come to the right place!


If you ever need any help using features of the site, there are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site. You can also find them on the START page and several other places on the site.


If you haven't already discovered The Spark book and/or the SparkDiet linked at the bottom of the START page, check them out - the program is simple but extremely effective. There is a TON of information on this site - so much it might even seem overwhelming but fortunately we don't have to 'digest' everything at once! The FastBreak program is a good way to start.


Another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I do - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!
