Journey To a New Me!

Hi, my name is Pam. I am 44 years old. I have been absent from this site for a long (too long) time. I am starting over AGAIN. I am an emotional eater. Any emotion and I can eat over it. I have battled my weight for as long as I can remember. I want to be healthy and thin. I am recommitting to this journey. I know it won't be easy, but I suppose there is some truth to that old adage that nothing worth having comes easy. So...here I go again!

I just read this poem & felt it too good not to share on this CHRISTmas Eve! God bless!

{This is another version of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' }

'Twas the night before Jesus came
and all through the house
Not a creature was praying,
Not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

The children were dressing to crawl into bed.
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter.
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!

The light of His face made me cover my head
It was Jesus! returning just like He had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
When He said "it's not here" my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without a sound.
While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There's only one life and when comes the last call
We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

(by Reverend Edward M. Gionest, Sr.)

To those who receive Him, He gives the power to become the sons of God, even to those that believe on his name. Repent and declare with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved.

Hi Pam, I saw your huddle on a team we're in and I stopped by to tell you how I beat the motivation game enough to start again. I don't know if it will help you or not, but it helps me.

My life is a video game, and I am a level 1. Level 1 is where you start, no matter what condition you are in. Its just the character you roll up. As a level 1 I can't go out and defeat a dragon or a boss, but I can kill a few rats. Each one gives me a 20% bump toward Level 2, so I pick 5 rats to kill and work on them for 6 weeks, then I get to be a Level 2. I can pick up some new armor or a weapon, or buy a new spell...maybe a BOSU ball or a good blender, I've been wanting those, or a new workout outfit so I feel less frumpy working out...

Anyway, my Level 1 rats are
1) Walk 30+ minutes everyday, rain or shine
2) Do five little strength training exercises each day, 3 sets of 12. I can do any I want, just so its five of them. Today I did a park workout.
3) Stick with my meal plan (I have a meal plan made up that is mainly veggies and fruits, and a little fish. I am boring in that I eat the same foods everyday pretty much). But I did include one "snack" of 3 quarters of a cup of chocolate almond milk and a quarter of a serving of Paul Newman's Orange and Black chocolate bars.
4) Study Chinese for 30 minutes each evening (I want to learn Mandarin and I have Pimsleur)
5) Lose 12 lbs over the six weeks, at 2 lbs per week.

I have made some quests up for myself too, but at the moment I don't feel equipped to do them. One is a Fairy Tale quest, and some of the things I want to do, to complete it is
--spin, like on a spinning wheel
--hit a bullseye with a bow and arrow
--take some sword fighting lessons
--get woke up with a kiss
--get rescued by a prince charming
there's more but you get the idea.

Sorry this is kind of long. It really helped me to get back on-track, and will hopefully keep me there. If this fitness and health thing were more fun, it wouldn't be so hard to stick with it. =)
