Hello friends.............

I use to be one of the people everyone hated - I could eat anything and never gain weight. Then I got old and stopped smoking.

Hello friends.............

I use to be one of the people everyone hated - I could eat anything and never gain weight. Then I got old and stopped smoking.

On December 26, 2003 when I stopped smoking I weighed 116 (thats dressed including shoes because I weigh at work). I am now up to 142 and I'm not happy with myself at all.

Part of the problem was the typical stopped smoking weight gain. Plus I also have gone through menopause over the past couple of years (I told you I was old!) not to mention a really rough divorce.

I know my weight gain is making me depressed and has really lowered my self esteem. Although I think getting back down to 116 with clothes is probably too thin (people use to think I had an eating disorder when I didn't) I do want to get back into the low 120's.

To get my weight back into the low 120's.

Start excerising daily at least a little.

Just be a better person all the way around.

Personal Information:
Like most of you know I live in Ohio. Its a VERY small town where everyone knows everyone.

I have a son who will be 22 in April and he is THE most important thing in my life. I look at him and see the one thing I can honestly feel that I did right.

Thanks for your response. Nice to know so many are here to help. My doctor only wanted to give me medicines for my back and thats not for me. I know if I loose weight it will help as well. Plus I do alot of stretches even when it hurts.
Sounds like you are on the right track for your goals. Its easy to get depressed over weight problems and plus a divorce. I have been there. One thing I have learned in life. When I come to the end of my rope, God is there to take over.
Good luck to you !
I see you are from Ohio. Indiana here. Carole

Just a short comment-my hubbie stopped pipe smoking 9/25/06( when doctors informed us he needed a fem/fem bypass for2 thrombus left iliac artery -that carried blood into his left leg). I don't miss the smoke breath, clothes smelling of stale smoke and nicotine stain on his teeth. his truck windows. Strange it took a doctors advice to make him quit. I admire folk's who have( or trying to ) quit smoking. I realize that my extra weight is my handicap. He listens to me reading threads/messages/articles from this site. I feel better now especially drinking H2O.
