making my way back to running

July 2009 - I love cycling! That is one great thing that came from not running. Now that I am riding and back to swimming, I will be able to do triathlons when I am able to run again. So far I'm having success with physical therapy. I was able to run almost a mile pain-free. I have a lot of stretching and strengthening to do, but I am going to start a run/walk program.
I'm still going strong with intuitive eating and don't use the scale anymore.

I'm still going strong with intuitive eating and don't use the scale anymore.

March 2009- I tried acupuncture and chiropractic treatments for my leg, but I still can't even walk 15 minutes without pain. Rather than spending more money on doctors, I decided to make an investment in a different activity- cycling! I bought a road bike, and as soon as I'm geared up I will be out there learning something new.
I am still lifting weights three times a week, currently on the original New Rules of Lifting. I joined the Masters swim class at my gym two days a week.
I gave up weighing myself and counting calories and am exploring Intuitive Eating.

End of 2008 update -
Running: I'm still not able to run, so I started acupuncture treatments on my leg
Weight lifting: Men's Health Power Training
Weight: 125
Size- still a size 2
What's next: when my leg is healed I would like to do another marathon, or at least a half. Until then, I'm swimming.
************************************
October 2008 - Still on hiatus from running, still lifting weights and swimming. My next goal is to start my stretching routine again in hopes of getting this IT Band injury healed.
************************************
May 2008 - I am forced to take a break from running to heal an IT Band injury. It's taking a lot longer than I expected, and it's not easy to adjust to life without running. I needed another challenge, so I picked up The New Rules of Lifting for Women.
*************************************
As of March 2008, I have been on Sparkpeople for two years. I made an important decision to let go of the past and my weight loss achievements, and to move on from where I stand now. I reset my diet goals and erased all my data and tracking from the last two years. I started over on Spark 5 because this is the new me. I no longer have goals to lose weight or body fat. I am in healthy ranges for everything and I am happy with myself now. From here on out I want to enjoy myself, enjoy eating, enjoy exercising, and stop sweating the small stuff!
*************************************
February 27, 2008 marked the one year anniversary of reaching my goal weight. I didn't still weigh 120, but was within 5 pounds most days, and still in a size 2.
**************************************
I did it! I met my goal of running a marathon. I trained for 20 weeks and ran the California International Marathon in Sacramento on December 2, 2007 with a time of 4:51:59.
**************************************
I met my goal of 120 pounds on February 27, 2007.
***************************************
It seems like I have been dieting since I was a teenager but I never stuck to anything so I kept gaining and losing. Fall 2005 I quit dieting, started running, and gained more weight. When I first joined Sparkpeople in March 2006 I had no idea I would end up staying on the program so well and making such progress. I finally learned once and for all that I have to watch what I eat. But the bright side is, I discovered that I really enjoy running! My original goal was to reduce my body weight by 10% and get into the healthy BMI range by my 35th birthday in November. My next goal was 124 by the end of 2006 for a total of 20 pounds lost.
****************************************
June 2006 - I was in the healthy BMI range and halfway to my goal weight
August 2006 - I was down two sizes and revised my goal to 125 by the end of the year
September 2006 - I hit 130, the last hole on my belt, and started looking at a size 4
November 2006 - size 4 was comfortable, started looking at a size 2
December 2006 - weight 124 and size 2 of my favorite style of jeans fit perfectly
January 2007 - 122.5, 24% body fat
February 2007 - 120
May 2007 - gave away my first size 2 jeans and bought first size 0
November 2007 - settled into a very comfortable size 2
January 2008 - my weight seems to be settling around 123-124 although my size 2 is still comfortable

I'm signed up for the 10k though I'm completely not ready! I had pneumonia for a little over three weeks and am starting to get back on track, but we'll see. Let me know if you do sign up, I'd love to chat with you before hand!

your blog sounded like you were a little stressed, tired and down last Wednesday, I hope you are feeling better now.

Thank you for your kind note of support! Monday was hard, but I think I'm back on track now. The scale may say one thing, but my clothes and my husband seem to be saying progress is being made.

Good luck on your journey!

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I've been struggling lately and the support here at Spark makes all the difference.

Thanks again,
Michael
