Hi, I am Janette. I have lost 70 pounds so far using a 12 step program, and found SparkPeople because I was looking for a way to permanently track my food choices and weight loss. This looks like a great way to supplement the lifestyle changes I have been working on over the past seven months.

Now for some interesting tidbits about me: I am an opera singer and published author, I work as a banking officer for a major bank, I am married, a vegetarian, no kids, four cats. I am interested in music, live theater, reading, bicycling, yoga, Eastern philosophy and religion, independent films, and anything not remotely related to banking.

My Goals:
This fall, I nearly died because of undiagnosed diabetes. However, I am grateful this happened because it gave me the opportunity to make some positive changes. I have lost 70 pounds, and I have 70 more to lose. My goals are to:
1. Continue working my recovery program.
2. Exercise 2-4 times a week.
3. Journal 2-4 times a week.
4. Track my food every day.

My Program:
I plan my meals daily so that I don't get thrown off track. I also prepare a lot of my own food and don't eat out as much, which helps keep me from temptation, and saves me money!

I also reach out to supportive people and ask for help when I am struggling.

I have also found my sport! I love to ride my bicycle with my husband on the Montour trail in Pittsburgh. I am up to 11 miles!
