one step at a time...

In the past couple of years I have been diagnosed with 4 pain conditions - FMS, Allodynia, Arthralgia and Neuropathy. I have a spinal injury which occurred at age 10 (but never pinpointed till age 41) and also sustained 5 herniated discs and arthritis in my spine. It is a challenge finding the fine line between the right amount of activity and going beyond that - which often results in prolonged periods of immobility. This has impacted adversely on my ability to exercise, and my weight has crept up as a result.

I am now trying to eat more consciously and be more aware of portion control. Like many Spark Page members, I do love my food.

I love meeting new friends, so feel free to stop by and say hello.

My Goals:
Movement as often as possible.

Keep focusing on the positives.

Treat myself well, and focus on taking the small steps, one at a time.

My Program:
Being mindful of portion control.

Move my body as much as I can within limits.

Never give up.

Personal Information:
I was born and live in the lovely South Australian city of Adelaide again, after spending 8 years in Hobart and 4 in Melbourne.

Other Information:
I love animals, and lost my beloved cat Coco aged 17, in December 2009.

My interests include travel (reading, TV shows and DVDs) since I am a bit restricted in getting about; occasional bursts of creativity (writing, art); reading; photography; and I am an Anglophile who would love to visit the UK one day...

Inspirational Quote:

People who succeed have momentum. The more they succeed, the more they want to succeed, and the more they find a way to succeed. Similarly, when someone is failing, the tendency is to get on a downward spiral that can even become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

    Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless you, hope your day is blessed as you gather with family and friend's..... emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Hope you enjoy the following poem...

    Most of All

    Thanksgiving Day brings to mind
    the blessings in our lives
    that usually go unnoticed:
    a home that surrounds us
    with comfort and protection;
    delicious food, for pleasure
    in both eating and sharing;
    clothes to snuggle up in,
    books and good entertainment
    to expand our minds;
    and freedom to worship our God.
    Most of all we are thankful
    for our family and friends,
    those treasured people
    who make our lives extra special.
    You are part of that cherished group.
    On Thanksgiving, (and every day)
    we appreciate you.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Thanks so much for reading and responding to my blog.
    I have spoken to the nutritionist at the hospital and she gave me some ideas on what to eat that wouldn't upset my stomach. I did lose a lot of weight during that two weeks, but I have gained it back because I can now eat better food. My potassium levels are back up and my infection is gone. Hopefully I will be able to have chemo this Thursday. Thanks so much for your kind words and prayers. They are so appreciated.
