My worth is not determined by a number on the scale.
I have been overweight my entire life and I have embarked on many a weight loss journey only to eventually jump the track or turn around and go home. However, this one is my last because I've completely changed my mindset. My destination is wellness and there is no ETA. It will take however long it takes and I am not comparing myself to anyone or anything else except who and where I was yesterday. I used to be so cynical, if the me of a few years ago had looked at the me of today, she would have scoffed. My Spark this time is the threat of Type 2 diabetes, but I am going to do this once and for all this time. I have the power to prevent diabetes or any other obesity-related disease. My health is in my hands and no one else's. When I visualize myself at goal, I see a healthy, fit, vibrant, enthusiastic woman content with how she looks and more importantly how she feels. This picture of my ultimate goal does not contain a scale or a number, so I do not need to concern myself with how fast I am losing weight. This is one of the main things that has discouraged me in the past, along with comparing myself to others and emotional eating. I have kicked the last one, and working hard towards the other two. I will use weight as one of many measurements of progress, but not as a measurement of worth, value, or happiness. I will succeed!
