    Hello OHSO_BEAUTIFUL and emoticon to SparkPeople! Yes, this really works! The site is packed full of information and tools to help us all progress towards and achieve our goals. If you have not already done so, I recommend using the Getting Started Guide to get a good overview of the site and to help get you set up and going -- this includes information about the Nutrition and Fitness Trackers, which I think are essential! A link to the Getting Started Guide is in the Quick Links section that is on the right side of most pages; and can also be reached from the Start page by clicking on the "Site Guide" tab on the upper right.

    You CAN do it if you want to badly enough. The truth of the matter is, that even with bariatric surgery you have to control what you put into your mouth. You will be limited to much smaller portions of food than you will if you follow the dietary guidelines that are set up here with you on Sparkpeople. I have seen so many people have bariatric surgery (including my step daughter) and gain it all back in a short while. In fact, my daughter lost more before the surgery than afterward!

    I have lost to goal twice. Once I went from 306-150. When my late husband became ill I sat in hospital rooms with him for 26 months doing nothing but eating and worrying. I gained most of it back.

    This time, I started out at 290#. With Sparkepeople, this has become my new life. I exercise daily. On the weekends it s usually a short half hour or so walk. During the week it varies from walking to elliptical to cycling to racquetball. When working, I generally eat 6 mini meals of 100-200 calories. Well, 5 anyway, then a 450 calorie or so meal for dinner. I am constantly eating! When first starting though, it was hard to break habits. Before I ate, I had to force myself to stop and ask if that bite was going to help me reach my goals. Now, it is habit to ask myself that question.

    You can do it. Do you want to? I mean REALLY want to? Do you want to do it badly enough to do what it takes to get it?

    The only thing we can control in this life is what we put in our mouths and what we do with our bodies. Ironically, nobody else can do either for us! The upside of that is that we have the power to improve our health. The Sparkpeople community is here to help. We can't do it for you, but the tools and the support is here.

    Now it is in your ballpark. Let's do it! emoticon
