Continue to make small improvements each and every day.

These pictures are encouraging. I was here once before I can do it again. How did I let myself get back to being over 300 lbs. Can't dwell on that. Time to make changes. I am looking forward to getting married and having a healthy life so I can be around a long time with my family.

With SP we can all learn more, encourage, and motivate each other to reach our goals.

I am not where I need to be, but thank God I am not where I used

"Every single day and every single minute is a choice. What choices are you making?"

Ran 1st 5k race - Storming the Bastille - July 9, 2009 - time 31.5 min!!!!! WooHoo!!!! It was so much fun!!! (I never thought those words would ever come out of my mouth.)

10/10/09 - Ran my 1st chip timed race - 8k Al's Run for Children's Hospital. 48:11 overall 2088, Divpl 81/164 Sex 748/1445 That means I ran an average mile in 9.7 min. WooHoo That is much better than I usually do.

My story - I decided in late Feb 2008 that I needed to change my lifestyle. Everyday I try to learn a little more and take one more step toward a healthy lifestyle. At the beginning of 2008 I weighed 290 lbs. I joined the gym in Feb of 08 and got a personal trainer since I had no idea where to even begin. I still work with the personal trainer because he continues to challenge me in new ways that I still would not have thought of. When I started I thought I had to keep telling myself I was not going to die and that I was strong enough to just walk on the treadmill. I have come a long way since then but walking on the treadmill is still my favorite although now I walk at an incline of 15 and speed of at least 4.0. I started at no incline and a speed of 2.8. I also started logging what I ate and tried to eat healthier. Taking it one step at a time gradually getting better each day. I joined SP in late Feb 09 when the website I was logging my nutrition shut down. When I joined SP I was at 194 lbs - down 96 lbs from when I started.

Although I joined SP to track my nutrition and exercise, I have since become addicted to SP and the teams I am involved in. I love to motivate and be motivated by all the people I meet here. I also love the articles and everything else SP has to offer. Thank you SP for making this site free. I think it is the best site I have seen so far.

I know that I can lose all the weight now. In the past I used my hypothyroidism as an excuse as to why I was so overweight. I was just lying to myself. I gained weight due to eating poorly which is much more calories than needed and no exercise.

May boot camp goal is to get to 174 by the end of May 2009 which will move me from obese to overweight. Done. Woo Hoo. Goodbye obese.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have learned a ton over the past year and continue to still learn new things all the time about fitness & nutrition. I also love to motivate and encourage others. If you have any questions or need support feel free to let me know. I do not know everything but I am willing to share what I do know and help out any way I can.
Keep going! I just logged back on after about 5 years being off of spark people. Just started a low carb diet (25g per day, and calories 600-1000 cal per day). Its been about two weeks and Ive lost 10 lbs so its looking promising. Get back running again---no matter how slow you are at first. And log, log, log your food. Good luck, you can do this!!
Aries is a hard sign for a woman to be since she wants to lead and in our culture, some don't take well to that idea. Thus she can be labelled "bossy". (Think Lucy in Peanuts.) The Aries woman wanted to be like her father, so she loves the outdoors. She has to be careful of head injuries and accidents as she will rush in without thinking and she loves to take chances. She hates to be bored. She gets along well with Sagittarius, Libra, Gemini, Leo, and Aquarius.
In Aries, the Sun is highly action oriented. You like to do your thing, and you are opinionated and direct in doing it. Your Aries personality constantly wants to charge ahead, and insists on being the one who organizes, rather than ever allowing yourself to be led or organized by others. You have a hard time recognizing any point of view except your own. Highly action oriented, when an idea strikes you, you are off quickly to carry it out. Yet you are not so good in seeing projects through to a conclusion. Follow-up and finish work are not matters that suit your style. You constantly need new goals, new projects, and new challenges.
You are a quick learner and a self-starter; enthusiastic and curious. The main challenge for an Aries Sun sign native is the control of impulses. You must avoid scattering forces, for if you can learn to think before taking action, your energetic nature will enable you to do much. Natural impulsiveness and inability to listen to the advice of others sometimes involves you in difficulties. To succeed, you must learn to think everything through carefully before you proceed. Patience and the ability to plan are areas in which you may have to apply extra effort. You must reflect on the total effect of your actions to grow and progress in life.
You may have a sharp temper and a quick fuse as Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet associated with war and combat. Fortunately, you get over anger as quickly as it comes, and you never hold a grudge. You are neither devious nor subtle in your actions. Many Aries Sun natives are down right blunt. Only with concentration and attention can you ever acquire much diplomacy and tact.
With your natural Aries inclinations, you have a true adventurer's or pioneer's spirit; a longing for independence and a tendency to fancy yourself as a free soul. Born to lead, but not born to handle the mundane responsibility or bureaucratic red tape. When faced with complex details, you become very frustrated. Fully matured, your Aries spirit aspires to a gallant "never say die" attitude, and a willingness to take advantage of each new opportunity that comes along.
