It's a journey, not a jail sentence.

"If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning." ~Mahatma Gandhi

I'm on a spiritual/mental/emotional journey to find out why all this knowledge I have about how to lose weight doesn't do me any good at times. I know what to do, I just don't always apply it, so I'm on a journey to figure out why. It IS a journey, not a jail sentence, because if it feels like a jail sentence, I won't stick with it. ...

The real jail sentence is living in this morbidly obese body and not having the energy to do what I want to do. So here I go on this journey that is my life!

Goals:
Get below 330: DONE!
Get below 320:DONE!
Get below 310:DONE!
Get below 300: (I am getting my next tattoo at this point)
*I'll add more once I get below 300. Read on, please.

I'm a young-at-heart 42-year old Presbyterian Youth Director & Christian Educator currently living in western Ohio. I've been overweight all my life. I lost 70 lbs. 10 years ago and kept it off for almost 5 years until I had kids. I want to feel that good again, and even BETTER! I don't want anything to hold me back from my dreams! I'm ready to do this, and help you do it too!

My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to be under 220 lbs. by our 10th wedding anniversary in Oct. 2013 (want to do a vow renewal ceremony and a wear a dress smaller than my wedding dress). Short term goal is to lose 1.5 lbs. a week.

GENERAL GOALS:
1) Eat 3 servings of fruit & veggies daily
2) Exercise 15 mins. 5 days a week and work my way up to 30 mins. a day 5 days a week
3) Make sure I'm reading SOMETHING motivational, inspirational, spiritual, or self-help related every day
4) Don't drink ANY soda (diet or regular)
5) Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily
6) Measure my body & record on SP on 1st of each month

My Program:
Watch portion sizes, eat only when hungry, move as much as possible, eat protein at every meal and snack, read books on emotional eating/self-esteem, pray, celebrate each victory (no matter how small).

Personal Information:
I'm Christine, and I'm a southerner transplanted to western Ohio. I'm 43 and have 2 small children (we met in our 30's so we're older parents). We also have 1 fur baby (of the canine variety). I currently work as a Presbyterian Youth Director and Christian Educator and might be seeking a career change.

Other Information:
I've got a nutty sense of humor. I'm a big Snoopy fan (if you couldn't tell from my profile name!). I love to get online when I have time (once again, the kid-thing). I'm a resource junkie, so I love hearing about books, websites, etc., that others have found helpful in their spiritual and weight loss journey. I'd also love to talk to older moms who had kids at age 35 or later. I don't discriminate when it comes to friends on here. I figure I can learn something from each person I encounter. I look forward to encouraging you and learning from you!

Oh, and! Why do you think it's overestimating your burn?
It may be counting lots of minutes that you wouldn't normally think of in terms of fitness, but I'm betting the calorie burn is pretty accurate. It has been for me for the most part, especially when compared to my BMR, on the Daily Calorie Differential report.

Mwah!
The Fitbit one has been great for showing me my sleep habits, which I think I knew but didn't pay much attention to.
I get up at 4 and should go to bed around 8:30 or so, to allow myself time to read a bit before drifting off.
I've found that as the week goes along, I get stubborn and decide I don't want to go to bed at a reasonable hour, but later. The Fb has shown me that the later I go to bed, the more restless I am, registering more instances of waking. I get less sleep and less rest overall. I also tend to eat more when I'm tired but trying to stay awake, to keep myself awake.
I knew this I suppose on some level, but seeing it on a webpage in front of me makes it more real for some reason LOL
I must recommend the recipe calculator/builder thing that Spark offers. I often have to sit down and figure out how we/Bill made something, what went into it, how much, and then guestimate the servings. Its worth it though, to help better realize how much everything 'costs' me in calories and nutrients. It's a little cumbersome at first but worth getting to know.
I'm proud of you for tracking! It takes some work to make it a habit, and if you find it useful, it's a fun thing to keep an eye on for the statistics.
Stay safe and warm over there honey. Many squeezes to you and yours.

emoticon Hey There! It was good to hear from you!
Love your good news on your Friend Feed but sorry about your gall bladder.

I can empathize. I've been dealing with the same problem on and off for several years.

Good luck on your surgery!

Thanks for asking about the Jeopardy! quiz.
They do not tell you your score. There were a few items I had NO idea of, but overall, I was pleased that many I absolutely knew. I'm not expecting to be chosen, but it was fun to do. I can still yell at the TV at 7pm every night and be glad I don't have to face Final Jeopardy! emoticon

Wishing you continuing improved health. emoticon
