The picture from the half marathon I ran

I did a half marathon the other day (10/24/10). I can't really say I ran it because I am so frigging slow. I came in 1722 out of 1791. I honestly could not care if I came in at 1791 - I finished. I am happy with that. But, I just got a link to the race pictures. And, it killed me. I honestly had no idea I was that friggin big. So, it's time to get my butt in gear and get to a healthy, comfortable weight.

My Goals:
I'm 45 now. My true, long term goal, is to do the Bermuda Walking Marathon for my 75th birthday with my wife and kids. I figure if I am healthy enough to do that at that age, have my kids want to do that with me then and pay for the kids and their families at that time, I will have had a damn good life. But, my immediate goal is to get healthy enough to make it that long. Oh, and to wear a "large" shirt instead of a 2XL.

My Program:
Trying to figure that out.

Personal Information:
Originally from Philly. Been in Atlanta since 1996. Married 20 years with two great kids.

Other Information:
Fitbit - user - www.fitbit.com/user/2B36S3 - Please feel free to add me as a friend.

The Nuts! Nuts! Get 'em! has been the "rallying cry" for me and my family. It's from an old Far Side. It's a bunch of squirrels in a huddle chanting that and it says before starting their day, squirrels must first pump themselves up.

Hit my first long term goal of breaking 35 minutes on a 5k on 9/20/14 - 3.12 miles in 35 minutes!

Ha! I love the photo suggestion you offered. It definitely "suits" my personality! I doubt some Sparkies would find it amusing though. emoticon

I LOOOOVE those lentils from Costco! I haven't bought any myself, but my best friend always has them on hand and it's a common dinner for us if I'm at her house. She's come up with some marvelous ways to use them. My nutrionist has me low carbing it right now, but I'm very much looking forward to the day when I can add things like that back in. Thanks for stopping by and have a happy Friday!

Bingley Bell! I love it! He's 29 lbs so it might just work. emoticon

I am not avoiding the donut because of calories. I just want to see how delicious they smell before I decide. (I also totally ate an amazingly delicious donut just this past Sunday. Bavarian Creme.)

Was the billboard you're speaking of Steven Singer jewelers? He does a contest with WMMR every year where they give away a diamond bracelet by floating it on a blow up doll filled with helium. Sounds like his schtick.

I do not listen to WXPN, but maybe I should!

And feel free to ramble on my blog!
