Perfectly Primal.

Hi, I am Meghan and in the Air Force. I have been amazed at my progress since switching to a Primal/Paleo lifestyle. I feel awesome and look so much better. Who knew weight loss could be so easy?

My husband David has also begun this fitness journey with me. I am hoping that as a team we will succeed.

In August 2009 we decided to go 'paleo' and for the first time since 2005 I saw a dramatic change in my weight and my appearance. For the first time I lost inches from my waist, I am now at about 33.5 inches. I was over 41 inches in August. I wonder how much more I will lose?

MMy most recent goal is to get to 20% body fat!

My Program:
I follow a primal lifestyle. This means I eat real food, lots of veggies and fruits, meat and fat. I avoid processed and refined foods.

I exercise 3 times a week with cardio circuits and low and high intensity aerobic activities such as; bike, elliptical, running and walking.

Personal Information:
primalponderings.blogspot.com/

I started at 220 pounds when diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I was unable to lose a significant amount f weight eating the spark way. Then I discovered the Primal Blueprint and it changed my life.

My pictures speak volumes!

My before picture was taken 3.5 years after my diagnosis of hypothyroidism. It was at a time where I worked out 5-8 times a week and ate religously within my calorie range, eating 60% of my daily calories from carbs.

My during picture is after being 'primal' for just over a year. What a difference a ratio makes. Cutting out grains literally saved my life, and NO I do not have celiac disease!!!

Excellent advice on my blog Meghan. When I do eat fruit, I have to monitor my blood sugar. I generally don't have to worry with sugar spikes unless I eat a high gylcemic fruit...so I don't.

My digestion is amazing when I follow Paleo. I don't seem to have a problem digesting meat at all. I am happy to report that I have been off of all legumes since January and only a extremely rare scattering (like probably less than once a week average) of any GF grain. No dairy.

But you focused a new light on the Blood Type Diet and integrating Paleo. It's a possibility. I do want to delve into the Leptin issue as well.

Thanks for your help!!

Thanks for dropping by my blog today. I am fairly new to Paleo and the primal way of eating, but so far I absolutely love it. I have found some awesome websites with great recipes and helpful knowledge. It has been easy and fun. I've averaged four lbs. a week the last three weeks, but hope to continue 1-2 lbs. a week from here on out. It appears this way of living also works for you. I am always encouraged when I read other's stories. Like yours! I hope you don't mind I add you so I can follow your progress, too!

Thank you! I can do it...with awesome SparkFriends!

Hey there - thanks for the blog comment. I've tried Primal in the past, and it was an awful experience for me. I was on it for 3 months (with my hubby) and we both hated it. My body didn't respond well to the higher fats, I slept terribly, my complexion went crazy and I didn't see ANY benefits at all (weight loss, measurements, etc). The first time I saw "effortless" weight loss in my life was when I went vegan in February and I'm now seeing those effects again since I made the choice to go 5 day vegan/2 day omni. I know Primal can be great sometimes - but unfortunately its not for me. Thanks for the post though! I appreciate it!
