No mud, no lotus.

I saw this quote today. I think the author attributed it to Thich Nhat Hanh ó I should probably look it up, because I think Iíll be using it a lot.

Not everyone is familiar with how a lotus grows. It begins as a seed, dropped into the mud and muck of a pond bottom. Pond muck is dirty, slimy, smelly stuff -- but it is rich in what the seed needs in order to grow. In due time, the seed shell opens and a shoot begins to push its way through the mud. It is hard work, but the shoot ...

It is hard work, but the shoot gathers strength from the nutrients hidden in the mud.

I think we all want the lotus without the mud. I know I do. I want health without exercise and eating right. I want a beautiful and serene home without the housework. I want the words to flow effortlessly without having to go back and edit.

No mud, no lotus.

Thanks so much for your wonderful and supportive comments on my RadioActive Girl blog! I really appreciate that you took the time to read, comment and send me your wonderful wishes.

Apparently there are not many side effects from the RAI (no hair loss or extreme nausea) so I'm hoping that my quarantine will be just another "rainy day" week - stuck in the house - alone - hopefully SP and my other friends will keep me social during this isolated time! I only remember being in quarantine once before in my early 20's when I got the chicken pox (for the first time - whoo boy, that's a whole other story). It was definitely an interesting time. I remember getting a lot of work done and ordering in a lot of food to be delivered... I guess I won't be able to do the latter but I'm definitely hoping for a productive week!

If you try any of the recipes let me know! I'm always looking for creative ways to play in the kitchen and this gives me a very good excuse to take the time to do so.

Thanks again for all your support and friendship ~ Michelle.

... And stay tuned for the next exciting instalment of RADIOACTIVE GIRL! **grin**

Sure was! 'Tis a goodly thing when the car breaks down and I don't have funds to fix it!

I love the lotus - I have a tattoo of one for exactly the reason you mention. Things that are difficult are worth going though.
