Fourteen Almonds

I'm Carol, and I'm here because I was inspired by SlimKatie, whose photo I saw on Pinterest. I've already made a few lifestyle changes, but so far they haven't shown up in my weight. Today, that starts to change. It's never too late.

P.S. I start each day with fourteen almonds. Fourteen almonds are 1/2 oz. They do lots of good things for you. Look at all those nutrients!

Here's the nutritional information for one oz. (around 25 kernels) of almonds:

My Goals:
I am morbidly obese but thankfully still mobile and have not developed heart disease or diabetes--yet. I'm here to become someone who feels and looks good, through and through.

My Program:
Currently, I eat what SP says I should eat (minus a lot of sodium, which I quickly saw was a weakness of mine,) and I try to do it in "real" foods as much as possible. The SparkPeople and Chef Meg help me to keep it real.

For activity, I swim for 20 minutes 3x a week (doctor's orders) and play an active Wii game every day except Sunday. (Even our bodies need a Sabbath.) If it rains on one of my swimming days, I play Wii Tennis in Wii Sports.

Other Information:
I am a Christian and an artist. I have a passion for travel, history, art, and reading.

I spent a year as a missionary in Latvia in 1994, long before I really had anything authentic to share. For the good of all, God brought me back to the States in a very painful way. Over the last eighteen years, He has been faithfully bringing me out of my arrogance and into an authentic relationship with Him. Like weight loss, the authentic Christian life is an every day, tough journey--but both journeys are worth it.

"Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." --
Saint Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, chapter 3, ver

Thanks. :o) My sodium was "in range" yesterday but on the high end. I'll keep at it. I think I need to do a cleanse, though. I was eating a lot of junk before, and I probably need to get my colon working. Ick. emoticon

I'm proud to leave your first comment. Welcome to the Living Binge Free team. Our most important goal is the find the way we can live with food peaceably. We don't always use the same measurements to track our progress, but it doesn't mean we aren't aiming at eating less and moving more, just as we know our bodies need. Check out our active threads and jump in! emoticon
