My name is Emily, and I am a Florida girl living in northern France with my husband. The climate difference is a big shock to my system, and I'm just now getting used to it. I used to be very active, but that's dwindled, since I work from home as a freelance writer and editor (I'm available for more work, if you have it!).

I finished high school at 125 lbs. I finished college at 145 lbs. Since then, my weight has fluctuated between 135-145. I am generally a healthy eater because I love vegetables and fruit, but since I've stopped exercising as much, my weight has crept up. My biggest challenge is to get off my bahonkie (my mother's word!) and get moving! In high school, I was incredibly active between marching band and soccer, as well as walking around on our huge campus. In college, I got less exercise, but still more than I do now. Since I'm now an adult, I need to take charge of my own health, which includes getting off my bahonkie and getting outdoors more.

My family has a history of heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes. Most of these are preventable, and I need to start now if I want to avoid them!

My Goals:
1) Run 1 mile without stopping
2) Touch my toes without pain -- DONE! Aug 21, 2012
3) Hands flat on the floor
4) Do a 5K
5) Bike to Bar le Duc and back (30 miles round trip)
6) Do a split, right leg leading
7) Do a split, left leg leading
8) Do 5 on-the-toes pushups
9) Do 10 on-the-toes pushups


My Program:
1) Do some sort of exercise daily for 10 minutes. This can be as simple as a walk outside, jumping jacks inside, or pushups.
2) Drink at least 6 cups of water per day. I would prefer to get 8, but I struggle with liquids.
3) Continue cooking healthy meals, aiming for at least 5 fruits and veggies per day.

My swimming gloves are just webbed gloves I wear to help me get my strokes right and I feel it more in my triceps. I don't want bat wings!
