I am retired at last!! The years my husband and I commuted to our stressful tech support jobs and working swing shift are over. I am happy to say that my last employer was the best of all and wish I had started there much earlier in my life. I miss the people most of all.

It feels like I am playing catch-up in most areas of my life-socially, doing improvements in the yard and inside and outside the house, reading, and last but certainly not least I can concentrate on taking care of me. There are no more excuses. My time is more or less my own and my stress level isn't even measurable.

In January 2013 I began a twice weekly exercise class using kettlebells which has turned out to be a great fit for me. The class is through my local parks and recreation department. Over the course of a year I became much stronger and had more stamina. But I had not changed my eating habits (no portion control among other things) and no weight was lost.

Right after Thanksgiving of last year an ex-co-worker stunned me with her almost 50 pound weight loss and she had maintained it with the help of her health coach. The concept of a health coach nagged at me and I finally called her health coach knowing her services would be more than I could or wanted to afford. I was wrong about that. I decided to use the plan my friend used with the help of her health coach who works for Take Shape For Life, the sustainable weight loss and maintenance program for Medifast. The 1-on-1 support is fantastic and I definitely have had great results. I also took on a 12 Week Health Transformation challenge through Take Shape For Life/Medifast and have increased my activity level from my kettlebell classes 2x per week to fitness walking 3-4 times per week, increasing time and distance each week.

I am a member of the Take Shape For Life online community as well as Spark People and FitBit for tracking. I love the weekly reports I get e-mailed to me from FitBit showing me how I've done. As time goes on I will spend more time on Spark People as there is so much information and so many interesting groups and people here.

My Goals:
I have just achieved one of my goals which was to have my doctor tell me I can stop taking my statin medication for high cholesterol. My bad numbers are now very good with the weight loss, diet and exercise. My next big goal is to no longer be pre-diabetic. I have reached 10,000 steps per day but not consistently. I hope to reach it consistently most days as my next goal.


My Program:
I have taken part in the Take Shape For Life / Medifast weight reduction and optimal health lifestyle program beginning 12/27/2013. I take a kettlebell fitness class 2x per week and walk at least 2.5 miles 3-4 times per week. I also have a home kettlebell routine developed for me I can do when the weather is just too nasty to walk.

Other Information:
I love the performing arts, reading, creating handmade cards and being at the beach. Travelling within my state and the U.S. is also a favorite thing.

    I was just on the 50 plus team and you asked how do you get points for the team. You go to the start page then go down to step #3. You will see all your teams names. Hit the little flags and that will give you points for yourself and points for which ever team that is beside the flag. You can earn up to 5 spins depending on how much points you have. Hope that answers your question!

    Thanks so much for the update my friend and for the previous goodies! I'm behind on my correspondence here but I check in every day. Glad you are hanging in there. So tough when parents need us in such a way and sibs can be- well- (mine were) I think they have a level of denial about it all and don't participate fully because of this.     Nora, All the best to you in 2015 and always! Just looked through your amazing photos again and see that you have one of you by the Christmas tree last year. OMGosh please do a side-by-side of this Christmas vs last Christmas. You worked so hard all through 2014 and I am so proud of you.
