I am retired at last!! The years my husband and I commuted to our stressful tech support jobs and working swing shift are over. I am happy to say that my last employer was the best of all and wish I had started there much earlier in my life. I miss the people most of all.

I am retired at last!! The years my husband and I commuted to our stressful tech support jobs and working swing shift are over. I am happy to say that my last employer was the best of all and wish I had started there much earlier in my life. I miss the people most of all.

It feels like I am playing catch-up in most areas of my life-socially, doing improvements in the yard and inside and outside the house, reading, and last but certainly not least I can concentrate on taking care of me. There are no more excuses. My time is more or less my own and my stress level isn't even measurable.

In January 2013 I began a twice weekly exercise class using kettlebells which has turned out to be a great fit for me. The class is through my local parks and recreation department. Over the course of a year I became much stronger and had more stamina. But I had not changed my eating habits (no portion control among other things) and no weight was lost.

Right after Thanksgiving of last year an ex-co-worker stunned me with her almost 50 pound weight loss and she had maintained it with the help of her health coach. The concept of a health coach nagged at me and I finally called her health coach knowing her services would be more than I could or wanted to afford. I was wrong about that. I decided to use the plan my friend used with the help of her health coach who works for Take Shape For Life, the sustainable weight loss and maintenance program for Medifast. The 1-on-1 support is fantastic and I definitely have had great results. I also took on a 12 Week Health Transformation challenge through Take Shape For Life/Medifast and have increased my activity level from my kettlebell classes 2x per week to fitness walking 3-4 times per week, increasing time and distance each week.

I am a member of the Take Shape For Life online community as well as Spark People and FitBit for tracking. I love the weekly reports I get e-mailed to me from FitBit showing me how I've done. As time goes on I will spend more time on Spark People as there is so much information and so many interesting groups and people here.

My Goals:
I have just achieved one of my goals which was to have my doctor tell me I can stop taking my statin medication for high cholesterol. My bad numbers are now very good with the weight loss, diet and exercise. My next big goal is to no longer be pre-diabetic. I have reached 10,000 steps per day but not consistently. I hope to reach it consistently most days as my next goal.

My Program:
I have taken part in the Take Shape For Life / Medifast weight reduction and optimal health lifestyle program beginning 12/27/2013. I take a kettlebell fitness class 2x per week and walk at least 2.5 miles 3-4 times per week. I also have a home kettlebell routine developed for me I can do when the weather is just too nasty to walk.

Personal Information:
I am from Tacoma, WA. and live in Marysville, WA. I am also on Facebook.

Other Information:
I love the performing arts, reading, creating handmade cards and being at the beach. Travelling within my state and the U.S. is also a favorite thing.

Lol! Yes there is still sun and heat here in Florida ! I just got out of the pool and it is still in the 80's. I have a couple more months before it gets really cold--I hope! Lol!

Hey Beautiful! How's things in Wa.?? We're "unsettled" in NC but will eventually find something and get settled in. Weird to be hoteling it with things in storage. I expect you will be at goal any day now- let me know what's going on and how you're doing. You're always an inspiration! Take care and keep in touch~ HUGS. ~Sandi

Nora thanks so much for stopping by my blogs! I sure appreciate your support. I'm so proud of you for your steady progress. You must be about in maintenance by now! I hope you write a blog about it.

Re the clothing: I'd totally forgotten about Costco! We go there so often I didn't even count them LOL. The Gloria Vanderbilt crops have kept me in business all summer. I have them in 3 colors and rotate regularly. They have a cotton blend V-neck that I have in every color (literally) they're perfect work-out tees. And Kohls! I forgot all about Kohls!! I get my bras, undies, nighties and shoes there as they suck me in with their sales and 30% off coupons. (and I do like the brands and fit I can get in those items there) Once in awhile I've wandered over to the clothing but have only found a few things.

So I guess I have been to more than just Goodwill in the past two years but it didn't seem like it in the wee hours of the morning. You jogged my memory with the Gloria Vanderbilt comment- so then I had to go look in my closet. I've tried the jeans but returned them as the jeans are just a tad too long for me even in "short" but the crops are perfect.

I'm not a huge jewelry person anymore but OMG I used to be. I practically studied it. Now my skin is so sensitive that I keep wearing the same pair of gold with a pearl (earrings) every day. The Chico stores always have everything "outfitted" with jewelry but I can't do the bangles or bracelets anymore either- skin too sensitive. So I'm finding the longer necklaces with just a little something on them serves me best. Not too heavy for my short frame and not too blingy. They have taught me that layering them is kind of fun though- wearing 2 or 3. But the chains can tangle a bit.

It's kind of fun to be happy about something so frivolous again! I think I've been depressed for the past two years (really). Speaking of depressing- am a little bummed there will be no trip back home now for awhile. Next summer will be too soon after all of these expenses and the beach house in April and everything. So maybe the next Summer. Yikes! That's 2 years away. So PLEASE stay in touch so we can meet up. I would enjoy so much if we could do that. I am missing my spark friend Bill by just a few days due to our closing one week earlier. Darn! He was going to go hiking with Jim.

Hope you and yours have been enjoying a Washington August. Stay well! HUGS.
