Hello. My name is Joanne and I live in rural California. I've been married to my husband for over 40 years (I married my high school sweetheart!) We have 2 boys and 4 grandchildren.
I told my daughter-in-law the other day, "As far as weight loss is concerned, I have at least three strikes against me: I'm diabetic, over 50, and I'm Italian! So, have I struck out?"......I don't think so!
For me, weight loss may be more difficult and a bit slower. If I find myself driving behind someone going 15 miles an hour, I don't give up, turn around and go home. I continue on my way and eventually arrive at my destination. My biggest challenge is to enjoy the journey along the way, no matter what the speed!
The foundation of my life that gives me purpose and meaning is my deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. It is His comforting Presence that has given me hope for tomorrow and strength for today.
I have a wacky, off-beat sense of humor and a laugh to match. All I can say, is watch what you pray for, you just might get it!!
My hobbies and interests include Bible Study, reading, writing, blogging, scrapbooking, ancestry research & crocheting. My husband and I also travel in our RV, "seeing the USA in our Alegro Bay"! (OK..so I'm showing my age with an old TV commercial!)
Although I feel I have a deep faith, it's also pretty simple. "We went through fire and through water; Yet Thou didst bring us out into a place of abundance." Psalm 66:12. I believe that this place of abundance is the result of a life of obedience.
I believe that abundance means different things to different people. "Two things I asked of Thee, Do not refuse me before I die: Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is MY portion, Lest I be full and deny Thee and say, 'Who is the Lord' Or lest I be in want and steal, and profane the Name my God". Proverbs 30:7-9
"Charm is deceitful and beauty fades, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised". Proverbs 31:30
If what I have said here strikes a cord with you, come alongside me and lets join ourselves together in this journey we call life!
To be the happiest, healthiest little Italian "Nonnie" that I can possibly be! And to enjoy every day of my journey, living the abundant life Jesus promised to those of us who belong to Him!
I am following Dr. Joel Furman's book, "Eat to Live". I eat the foods that God made first: green vegetables, fruits and legumes. Then starchy vegetables in moderation. And finally, sparingly eat processed whole grains, fats, animal protein and dairy, etc. I have recently added the Visalis shake mix by BodyByVi because it has helped greatly in stabilizing my sugar levels. I have recently discovered that I also need to eat gluten free. It may be challenging, but it is "do-able".
My name is Joanne and I live in rural California with my husband of 40+ years and our two dogs, a black lab and a pom. One of our favorite things to do is load up the dogs in our RV and travel this beautiful country seeing all the sights! And visiting the kids and grandkids as we head out!!

I leave you with the following poem, hope you enjoy...
The Power of Friends
Everyone knows of the power of friends,
The terrific result, when everything blends.
When people have friends, they donít stand alone;
Friends always help, when you face the unknown.
Friends give you courage to face problems untold,
So the love of a friend can help make you bold.
They can help you to live a much richer life,
So your every day living will be less filled with strife.
Thanks for being my friend!

Hope you enjoy the following poem...God's Blessings...
We meet new people every day;
Why we like some, who can say?
Maybe it's because they think like us;
It might be because they seldom fuss.
It's hard to know why closeness grows;
We like some better; that's how it goes.
I think you're special; Iím glad we met;
Let's keep having fun in our friendship duet.
