On the path to a healthier lifestyle in 2012

Making a commitment is facing a challenge head on. I started, in earnest, eating well in November, with a group of like minded individuals at work. While I now have lunch covered, by goal is to eat healthy through out the day and to not have food be the primary stresser in my life, because I really love the sense of taste.

I guess my goal for 2012 is to get over myself and move on at the buffet table of life, to stop worrying about the small stuff and make some rather large goals ...

My Goals:
Vegetarian diet, more excercise, happiness and well being.

My Program:
Continue to try eat a vegetarian diet and to try to make it a healthy vegetarian diet. Continue to do my morning stretches and to add more walking.

Personal Information:
From NJ, living in the south for 15 years, New Orleans mostly. Presently working at Tulane University while pursuing an MBA, part time at night (one more semester to go).

Other Information:
I enjoy asian foods, going to the movies, theatre, dance (watching, I'm kind of a bad dancer), cultural events (except loud indoor concerts).

Thanks for your comment on my blog! I have looked up the exercises for my PITA affliction and they are all what I am already doing in yoga. So hopefully this will soon be a thing of the past. Have a lovely weekend!

Happy New Year!! I'm glad you're getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support.

In my experience, SparkPeople is like a emoticon in some ways - it's lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' - it's about waaaaaay more than 'just' losing weight so you have definitely come to the right place!

If you ever need any help using features of the site, there are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site. You can also find them on the START page and several other places on the site.

If you haven't discovered The Spark book and/or the SparkDiet linked at the bottom of the START page, check them out - the program is simple but extremely effective. There is a TON of information on this site - so much it might even seem overwhelming but fortunately we don't have to 'digest' everything at once! The FastBreak program is a good way to start.

Another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I do - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!

2011 will be a year for change, moving on and getting on with life. Leaving 2010 in the past is the start. Happy New year to everyone who is embracing the future!
