No Do Overs!

January 4, 2013:

When you start you're motivated by the potential, the possibilities, and success. When you quit, you're defeated by the detours, dissatisfactions, impossibilities, and failures. Keep your eye on the prize. Never forget your potential to succeed -- and you will.

July 19, 2012:

I don't work out because I hate my body, but rather because I love it.

Pretty much sums it up.

I changed my name to reflect my 2011 mindset...I wanted a name that made a statement, so I chose No-Do-Overs. I used to be jmansur...if you're looking for her, you came to the right place! I've been here for a long time, and I've had enough of the do overs and the start overs and the new beginnings.

I have 60 pounds to lose. I have a whole host of clothes I want to see ON MY BODY this year...and a closet full of ones I DON'T WANT ON IT! I'm 42 and I'm really feeling it these days. I'm tired, I'm winded with carrying laundry and the vaccuum cleaner around the house. I feel like I've completed a grueling race by painting a room. Enough. It's not just the weight I want to lose. It's affecting my outlook, my disposition, my mood, and my personality. Ew. Enough of that.

The Four Cs

Somehow I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably. -- Walt Disney

If we all did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves. -- Thomas Edison

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. -- Henry David Thoreau

You cannot plough a field by turning it over in your mind. -- Author Unknown

You will never make anyone happy. They will always have something (negative) to say, either you’re too fat or you’re too skinny. But it's not about them it's about YOU. Are you happy with what you’re doing? If yes, then keep going. If no, then take action. But it's no one's decision but your own. – Me! (WE_PA12) Check her page out if you want to get motivated!!!

April 8, 2010:

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my page! My name is Janice and I've been here for a couple of years doing the yo-yo thing. I want to lose 40 pounds. I've gotten down 20, but then, eventually, I go back up again! I keep getting away from my groups and message boards; forgetting to track, making excuses. I hope to be more mindful of just doing these things that I enjoy and that work! (And less mindful of all the reasons why I think I can't. :P)

Please leave a comment if you stop by, and I'll stop by your page too! Thanks!

October 20, 2009:

I can't ask anyone else to give me the things I really want. Only I can get them through hard work and growth. But I know there is always someone who will help--especially here!

I want to do the things to get what I want, rather than thinking about the things that keep me from them.

I think if I am remain mindful of the restrictions, the limitations, the inhibitions, and the possibilities of failure, that I will forever find fault, defeat, fear, and regret.

I am trying to embrace the ability to accept and overcome the things I face as challenges, limitations, fears, and failure. I know this is how I will eventually find contentment, patience, fulfillment and the passion to love my life.

Quotes:

If you wait for it, it may never come. If you look for it, it likely will.

Where you find fault, you find regret.

June 7, 2009:

In April of 2008, I joined SparkPeople to lose weight. I did...about 20 pounds, which I was happy about and then proceeded to gain back over the next 6 months and along with another 10 a couple of months later.

In April of 2009, I came back to SparkPeople with renewed resolve. Lose weight, journal, exercise. I lost 9 pounds in the first six weeks. I also gained a LOT of knowledge along the way this time. I have realized, so far, that there's a whole lot more I want to accomplish than getting into shape. I've blogged, posted, and emailed a lot about this. Thank you to all my many sparkfriends for listening and responding!

I'm calling this intro "Believe" for a reason. I've come to the conclusion that motivation needs belief as a partner. If motivation is knowing you want to and belief is knowing you can, then when you put them together, both are knowing you will.

Intro as of April 2009:

40 days

Thanks for stopping by my page! I'm Janice and I'm 40 years old. I love art, cooking, and going to farmer's markets, among other things! I have two kids and a husband and we live in Pennsylvania. I'm returning to SparkPeople after being largely inactive for about 8 months. I'm feeling better already!

My philosophy for now (around 4/15/09):

I saw a segment on the Today Show on 3/31/09 about boosting your health in 40 days. The 3 women, all in their 40s, had one or more health issues. Using techniques of integrative medicine, which treats the whole body, the women raised their health scores dramatically: one quit smoking, one learned to cook healthier (she lost 18 lb in 40 days and 10 more since then!), and one lowered her blood pressure by balancing her life (she actually had to exercise LESS).

I like the idea of 40 days. It's very achievable, plus they say the first few weeks of any program are critical to sticking with it. So I'm going to see if I can exercise some way every day, not focusing at all on the results I want to get. So far so good!

Update -- 5/18/09:

I'm down another 1/2 pound, putting me down 7.8 pounds since I started -- which I'm very happy about! I know I've lost inches, because my clothes are looser, but I'm not measuring until the end of the month after bootcamp is over.

I am still trying to focus on enjoying the journey, as I said, but I've found I don't really ever take my eye off the prize.

Update -- 5/28/09:

Up 1.5 pounds this week, but had a great weekend. Didn't really overeat, but still not surprised about the weight gain. My rewards don't fit in the profile section anymore, so I'm putting them here:

Rewards:

10 lbs: HRM
20 lbs: iPOD
30 lbs: Spa day
40 lbs: goal and weekend away to...?
