Sparks are flying...

I have been on Sparks for about 2 months now and it has been so motivational for me. In high school and college I was very active and fit. When I started working full time and doing a master’s program at night, my healthy lifestyle fell to pieces. I had very little time to plan meals or exercise. In the last 3 years, I gained almost 40 lbs. I tried to loss it off and on with no success.
In the last 6 months, many things have happened which ultimately got me to where I am right now. ...

First, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I knew I needed to lose weight and tried, but was not successful. I finally decided to leave my high stress long hour job for a job closer to home with more flexible hours and less stress (which I love by the way). I thought I was doing better managing my health until I saw a picture of myself at our company party. I was so saddened that I had let myself get so heavy. I knew at that point, if I wanted to manage my PCOS and be healthy, I had to lose weight. Amazingly enough, a few days later, I came across SparkPeople. I joined and finally found the motivation and comfort that I didn't have at home or work. In the last 2 months, I have lost ~18 lbs, eat consciously, and can run 1.5 miles on the treadmill. I know I have a long way to go, but I am so proud of myself for sticking with it so far. I can't wait until next April when I hit my goal weight. Thanks Sparks!

Hey, just wondering if you ever found a PCOS Dr. In UT? I am seeing someone in Ogden in April, but I wondered about the Dr. that did not give you any info (I had a very similar exp and left him for this new Dr.) Message me if you want.

Thanks for the comments on my page. You're doing great and will be at your goal weight in no time if you keep up the good work. I actually gained some back during the holidays - and I was even exercising! I can't *not* exercise anymore, I get too restless. But those darn sweets...!!! I'll get it off again - I'm getting back to the healthy eating slowly, just having trouble getting my veggies in. Have a great January!

I think that's a very realistic goal to just hope to maintain over holidays.
I"ve been pretty much the same.. still in my 166-168 range. So long as I don't see 170 I"ll be happy.
I know I need to get off my butt though. Yesterday I chose to clean and do housework as a "productive" way of avoiding working out.
I'm really crafty like that..

How've you been getting on this week?
I've bombed holiday week already..but I knew I would, so I'm -trying- not to wallow in guilt.
I've been dancing twice though and laser tag once..I hope that counts as good cardio :)

Thanks for your comment of encouragement on my post. I really appreciate it. Im doing a lot better the first couple of days were horrible. I kinda started this Sprite Zero thing.. which is kinda keeping me from drinking a lot of pop. I've made a limit for myself to like two a day and sometimes it's only 1 1/2 and I drink lots of water. and it's helping me. I may be a week or so into this thing, but Im making some major improvements. emoticon Merry Christmas.
