I'm now 61--- quit smoking for my 50th birthday- the best present I could have ever given myself. I gained the typical 20 pounds they say you gain when you quit smoking. . Those 20 new pounds are right around my mid section and 11 years later they are still with me. I realize that while I have learned alot here on SP - am aware of so much more and have developed some new great healthy habits - I have to be brave enough and strong enough to CHANGE. I cannot read and type my way to weight loss. Glad to be here making online friends to learn from, encourage and celebrate success with.
I have opened up my food tracker and fitness pages for public viewing ---- sharing my life will lead to learning more about everyone's experience on the path to fitness. Comment on anything you see. Im just now entering a new phase of life. I have retired from a 35 year career.. This means i get to decide what i want to be when i grow up.................... trim and fit is definitely on that list.
I have learned I cannot do it all at once. But I can do at least one thing every day to make an effort to be healthy. "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out." ~Robert Collier You are doing amazing. Being in the top five for team fitness minutes is inspiring! Continue to make small efforts every day and it will all add up to success! Together we can do this!!! Ruthie
We are in this battle together! Do you believe that success is the ONLY option? I suspect you do because you are in the top five for team fitness minutes this week! YOU GO!!!! Keep moving ahead and making the right choices!!! I am rooting for YOU!!!! Ruthie
Thanks for the comment on my sparkpage. Sigh...I'm not very active with sparkpeople these days. seems like there's just too many other things calling my attention.
I haven't lost or gained anything other than, like you say; 5 lbs up and 5 lbs down...maybe. I never even weigh myself any more but I can tell by how things fit. Haven't had to switch over to bigger clothes and I guess that's a good thing.
I've been suffering with Plantar's Fasciitis. Never had it before nor have I know anything about it. Well NOW I know and it hurts like heck! I am trying a lot of different things to help myself be able to walk. People that have had it tell me that you do get over it...eventually...if you take care and rest your feet. WHAT? Me, rest my feet?? Gaaaaaah; I don't do that very well. Maybe I should take up crocheting again and just let the garden and house sink to dust and weeds.
Got some pretty neat sandals that are helping; that's a plus.
Hope you are well, your photos show you as looking terrific! I really "ought" to put a new pic of me on my Sparkpage. Scary thought. I look nothing like the pics that are there now.
Do you still have that beautiful dog?
thanks again for remembering me. Blessings, Annie (the duck) PS: I have 9 ducks now...quack!
Keep at it with the KB....I'm convinced there the best invention since peanut butter!
If you haven't tried Turkish Get-ups, give them a go...it's a whole different movement. Swings are all about cardio capacity and power, they primarily workout your back side....TGUs are about quiet strength & endurance, they workout your abs & shoulders and teach you to move all over again.
