May 2014 - I ran my very first Color Run 5K! It was fantastic :D





Instead of cake and ice cream for my birthday, we went to a Moroccan tea shop. It was amazing!

For Me, For Life

In the past few years, I've gained and lost the same 15 pounds. I spend months focused and consistent with my fitness only to run into some work scheduling that keeps me from working out for a few days. I'd lose my momentum and go back to how things were before.

I'm reigniting my spark, starting over with the small goals. This time I've only gained three pounds back from my lowest in years, but it's still a work in progress. I'm not giving up.

My Goals:
I'm working on my overall goal in 5lb increments. Overall, my goal is 125.

Concurrent with my weight goals, I'm working on living each day with gratitude and mindfulness. It's easy for me to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the day and forget to live.

My Program:
Diet: vegetarian with one free day two or three times a month. No carbonated drinks, very limited alcohol and sugar.

Fitness: daily jogging (30 minutes or 3 miles, whichever is greater), yoga three nights a week, with a push-up/sit-up/stretch routine before I go to bed each night. Hiking when I can make time and a walks when the weather is too nice to stay indoors :)

To answer your cardio question, I set the treadmill on a 15 incline (max for our gym machine) and run at 6.2 mph. I do a six minute run (including 1 minute walking at 3.5 mph) before weight lifting and then repeat it between muscle groups. At the end, I am doing 18 minutes at once but still taking the one minute slowdown every 6 minutes. Without the slowdown, I'd pass out. :)

According to the treadmill, it burns 101 calories per 6 minutes. Hopefully not too much more detail than you wanted, lol.
