FUTURE MARATHON FINISHER

I've been an on again off again SparkPeople member since 2006, but recently I did something crazy and signed up to run the Philadelphia Marathon on November 20th, 2011 so I'm back on SparkPeople with a vengence to try to hold myself accountable. I'd also like to lose some of the weight that has crept up over the years of having a sedentary job.

My Goals:
Train for and finish the Philadelphia Marathon on November 20th, 2011

Lose the 20-25 pounds I've gained since college.

Continue to eat healthfully and cook more. Especially focus on getting more leafy greens in my diet.

My Program:
stick to my training schedule that I've created from a few different marathon training books. My main source of information comes from this awesome book: The Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer by David Whitsett, Forrest Golgener and Tanjala Mabon Kole.

I also belong to a gym and go to a weights-based circuit class twice a week for cross-training.

Hey I saw your retweet and friended you! I ran a marathon about 13 years ago and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I have had kids since then and my weight crept up so now I am getting back into running to lose weight. I am planning to run a few races this summer and maybe a 1/2 marathon in the fall. Excited to follow your progress! Running a marathon is worth all the work you put in! You go girl!

I'm doing a 5K called "Race for the Roses" (in Roseville, MN) at the end of June, and also walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure on August 19th-21st (if I can somehow manage to raise the $2,300 minimum donation...) =)
