Hi everyone. I've no clue what to write, so I'll just say I'm glad to be here, finally someplace with people who truly understand and are going through the same thing. Let us all support one another!

My Goals:
I want to learn to live healthfully, every day. My focus has been on my dress size and weight for so long, and that approach certainly hasn''t worked! I would hope for all of us to break that tie to the scale, and eat for life.

My Program:
I''m using meditation and journaling every day. I watch my calories, but more importantly I watch nutrients...am I getting enough fiber, calcium, etc.? Am I getting too much sodium? I''m recovering from knee surgery. In a few months I''ll be able to add exercise, and am already a member at the YMCA.

Personal Information:
I''m a Hoosier gal most of my life, but born in the Show Me State, and spent my first year of marriage in the Buckeye State. I just earned my B.S. in Psychology this summer. I have been married to the same wonderfully obnoxious man for 23 years, and we have four children (21, 17, 16, 14), two girls, two boys. I am looking forward to recuperating from recent knee surgery...have three months'' physical therapy ahead of me, and then I will put out my resumes and hopefully find a decent job to help put the three younger kids through college (the oldest graduated last spring).

Other Information:
I have been slowly progressing through a beautiful book called A Path With Heart...on meditation in the Buddhist tradition. I read a little, meditate a while and just think about life...the interconnectedness of all existence. It makes me feel so close to people, and I find that very comforting.

Jennifer,

You are off to a great start! Congratulations on the 15 lb. loss. I know that 15 pounds may not seem like much right now, but it is awesome. You are doing so well. Glad you decided to join the Sparklin' Sparkettes! Good luck on your journey!

Have a great day,
Debbie

I'm starting grad school in June. Until then I'm working some temp jobs and hoping for a call that will put me back on campus. :)
