Nicci's Healthier Me
I am married to a wonderful youth minister and have an amazing autistic son! When I was married I was 18 and 115 pounds. When I had my son I was in the best shape of my life! 135 pounds and had been in a gym for a year! I took spinning classes, aerobics, free weights and machines. At birth I was 200 pounds and lost 40 that day! (lol) I never regained my beautiful 135 pounds. In 1995 we moved back to Kalispell and decided to work for ourselves! Him buidling ...
Him buidling rock crawlers and jeeps and I was in child care (preschool/toddler setting). Slowly and slowly I began to gain more weight. I didn't know what to do! The economy decided to dip and my husband's rock crawler/jeep building experiences went to the way-side. During that time, we had our come-to-Jesus moments. After that we began ministry full time and we couldn't keep our home. We lost a 1200 square foot home, shop and fenced yard, but gained at 12,000 square foot skate park (inside) and a 1200 square foot apartment in the building! We began anew 2 years into the skate ministry! Now, at that time, I was close to 155 pound mark. Last year (4 years into ministry) I weighed in at 165 pounds. This is getting crazy for me! I'm getting depressed, nothing fits, and I'm out of breath walking up the stairs to my home! I joined Spark People at that time. I worked out 6 days a week, followed my own food plan (low carb, low fat) and ended up gaining another 10 pounds. I couldn't take it anymore, so ... I gave up. This year, almost a whole year exactly I am back and with a vengence! Revenge against my own body and my own will. God's Word says we are to crucify our flesh daily and I hadn't been doing that. I have been giving in to the tempting nachos and brownies and cookies and all those other high fat and high carb foods. This time I'm serious. I am following SP's workout plan and food plan. I am not able to follow the food 100%, but I leave it up so I can compare what I eat to what they ask me to eat. So, here's a new year and a new me! God didn't make me fat, I chose to eat that! UPDATE!! Today is almost 3 months from my re-joining SP! I have met my first goal! Goal #1: weight 160. Met: 2/12/12! I lost that in 8 weeks! Goal #2: wight 140. Currently working towards that!

My Goals:
I am tired of trying to squeeze into jeans that are too tight. I want to be healthier and feel better in what I wear. Lose 5 pounds a month (or more). Goal weight is 160 from 180 in one year. I'm praying for strength and guidance and provision. MY goal weight is 135-140 in this year! I want to do this and I KNOW I can do this!
My Program:
I have no support on this journey. I'm trying to do strength training at home with the SparkPeople vids on youtube. I'm sticking as close to the meal plans provided as possible; lots and lots of veggies and lots of right protein! I'll be walking 5x a day on the bike path, approximately 2 miles, during the summer.
Personal Information:
My husband and I run the only local skateboard ministry, have the only indoor skate park in the valley, and see about 180 different kids a week. It's tough running the snak-shak without eating everything in site! I have an 8 year old son who is autistic and I am homeschooling him. I work for God in everything I do and my health should not be left out!
Other Information:
Whew! My days are busy! I read my Bible and find strength and encouragement in it. I have a bestie friend who has a heart condition who understands. I love to garden so I want to have a container garden of fresh veggies. I also found CSA gardens locally: work in trade of food. :) God bless you all! You CAN do this!
