Hi! I am a 45 yr old woman who has spent the last 25 years putting almost everything ahead of my own care. I thought I would be behaving selfishly if I didn't put my husband, children and career first and I muddled along in that belief right up until I badly injured my left side in a fall. For over 2 years I limped and gimped around and had to rely on friends and family for a LOT of help. I hated it! I resented everyone for getting along without MY invaluable help. I also felt very sorry for myself as I mourned the things I could no longer do. I comforted myself with lots of yummy things and now I have a lot of weight to lose. But I also have hope. Seven moths ago I finally got a real diagnosis and after round after round of waiting in specialist’s offices, MRI’s, X-rays, I was sent to the most remarkable physiotherapist on the planet, who diagnosed my hip injury and all the muscle atrophy, nerve damage and compensatory collateral damage I was causing myself. I can now walk, run a wee bit and am doing Pilates, Tai chi (albeit not gracefully) and the treadmill regularly. Along with a modified strength training program and an ever increasing list of exercises from my physiotherapist. My injury has taught me that I need to focus on myself as well as every one else in my life. My own healing is in my hands and the more I take care of myself, the BETTER I get. Miraculous! My Goals:
Hi, I am overcoming a serious injury and have put on a LOT of weight. I would love to shed the pounds but more importantly, I would like to have great health and strength.
My Program:
Sensible, clean eating. Lots of cadio and what ever my physiotherapist and trainer recommend. Must get off the self pity diet!
