I'm a vegetarian who likes to walk and practice tai chi. I also teach a class called Shaolin Fitness that takes low-impact elements of kung fu, tai chi, qigong and combines them with weight-bearing exercise. The class is designed for women who are easing back into fitness, have chronic pain issues or who aren't comfortable in high-intensity exercise classes. Most are ages 40+, though there is a teenager participating. It is a very supportive class and the social aspect of being in a group that meets regularly is almost as big a part of the class as the exercise. I get as much out of the class as the students and am blessed to know such a fine group of women. A recent check of my blood pressure and blood sugar levels were excellent, so I must be doing something right!
