2014 It has been a while since logged in to SP. I had to essentially stop exercising in Sept 2012 due to back pain. After many MRI and CT scans, steroid spinal injections, PT and all the other stuff the surgeons put you through, I had my 1st surgery of 2013 in May on my neck. during that time I gained back up to 237. In October, I had 2 more on my back. and in 2 weeks dropped 10 lbs and as of today I have lost 20. Now it is 2014 and I am just waiting for the surgeon to agree to let me start at least water aerobics again. I see him in Feb. The worst of these past two years was the muscle tone I have lost. I don't look forward to restarting the build up again, but am ready to get back on track. Anything you read from hear in this area was last updated in 2012. Hi! I'm Jan . I have a passion for NASCAR, fishing, reading, camping, and gardening. Unfortunately I have always loved to eat...too much....and without much self control. I had gastric bypass surgery on 12-14-11, but the new journey actually began in June 2011 after reaching an all time high of 285 pounds. I spent the first half of last year exercising like crazy and enjoying every minute of it until I injured my back. The exercising came to a halt in August, 2012 and I reached my lowest weight of 201 (just one day though) that month. I was able to control my weight between 203-208 until the holidays in November and December 2012. Thankfully on the 2nd day of 2013 I am only weighing in at 216 which is much better than I thought I would do. This week I will begin adjusting back to the correct way of eating and hope my MD will release me do more than just walking soon. I got a dog a few months ago and she makes me get out and walk at least a little daily....she has been good for me.

My goal in life is to survive. Everything else is just a bonus.

-"The Lockhorns"

To begin again means that you won't give up.
To begin again means you're trying.
You can either start over and live your life
Or spend the rest of your life slowly dying.

It is never the falling that makes us fail.
It is never the pain or the crying.
You can never fail in life, my friend,
Unless you give up trying.
--Bob Perks

When we are motivated by goals that have deep meaning, by dreams that need completion, by pure love that needs expressing, then we truly live life.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving savely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming,
"WOW...what a ride!!!"

But as for me, I will look to the LORD, I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.
Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me. Micah7:7-8

My Goals:
2914 is essentially ditto. but I have 32 lbs left. After everything I have been through in 2013 I am ready to put that year behind me. I am glad I was at least able to maintain during that time.

2013 Lose at least 31 more lbs to reach my 2012 goal of losing 100 lbs. Starting weight was 285.

Strengthen all muscle groups

I will not sabatoge myself by giving up, I will persevere to the end

When I reach 200 lbs I will schedule a ride along at a racing school as a reward for meeting my half my goal

Thanks for the blog comment. I have to go back to the clinic for bloodwork tomorrow and I'll see if I can talk to the clinic manager. I have a good relationship with her, so hopefully we can work it out.

This is KNH771, by the way... not sure why Spark switched to my other account...

    Hi Jan!
Did you have gastric bypass? I had abdominalplasty. They removed an "apron" of tissue (about 40#) from my abdomen. After the surgery, I lost another 26# in fluids before leaving the hospital after a week. I started @ 440#, and as of today, have lost 201#. It's taken WAY longer than I've wanted it to, but I still did it. Would like to lose another 100#.
I hope everything is going well for you after the surgery. I know it's a big lifestyle change. A friend of mine had it and she struggled with the changes and her health afterwards, but did lost a great deal of weight.
Take care & hope to hear from you soon.
