Three Months in SparkPeople!
I have been part of SP for three months as of April 12, and it's GREAT! I'm developing better habits, which is the most important thing. The weight is coming off slowly, but that's OK. I have lost lots of weight and gained it all back (and then some) too many times in the past. Looking back, my most successful weight losses were when I developed better habits. Those habits are what allowed me to maintain a lower weight for a longer time. So back in December, I decided to start working on improving my habits again. I had let them get away, and I had expanded to 325 (my highest ever). I was walking slower, not able to carry on a decent conversation or sing or whistle continuously while walking. Out of frustration, I was eating more, as if it would cheer me up somehow! (Yeah, I know: Frustrated about being overweight? I'll think about it over this chocolate bar,,, and this double-cheeseburger... and...) I knew it was counterproductive, but it was almost instinctive. So it was time for a change! I was looking for motivational assistance, and read some books, and them I picked up the Spark book. It really inspired me to start doing more. I started to work my way through, but I still needed something. That's when I checked out SparkPeople. I will admit that I was skeptical at first. I can do this myself, I thought. I have done it before. (Of course if I was that great at doing it, why do I need to do it AGAIN!) So I cautiously looked into it... and I'm hooked! The support from everyone is AWESOME. Total strangers sharing a common path and supporting each other. It's inspiring me to reach out to support OTHER people, because I realize how good I feel when other people encourage ME here in SP. So THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! It has been great, and I'm looking to many, many more months ahead!
