Operation Starting Over

I'm starting over, in more ways than one (for some background, click on my blog entry for June 10, 2013). I am a perpetual optimist, and can find the positive in most (if not all) situations. So while other might regard this period in my life as a sad ending, I see a new beginning. An opportunity for growth and change, one which I plan to take full advantage of.

I'll be recording my journey here. While I might appear to wear my heart on my sleeve, I too keep many things private ...

My Goals:
1. Permanently change my eating habits to be more healthy

2. Make exercise and healthy, loving movement a part of my everyday life

3. Lose 100-110 lbs.

4. Be a size 8 (although I estimate that losing 100-110 lbs will result in a smaller size)

5. Wear a bikini!

6. Wear calf-high leather boots (that aren't XX wide)!

My Program:
I am (sort-of) following the Body-For-Life for Women program. I will be doing 4 consecutive 12-Week Challenges, with separate weight loss goals for each challenge.

I'm starting out with TurboJam, and then I'll work my way up to some other work out DVDs to keep it interesting and new. I've got JM's 30-day Shred, some Biggest Loser DVDs, Hip Hop Abs, and Rockin' Body (among others). Ultimately, I want to work my way up to TurboFire.

Another super-important element for me is diet. When I say diet, I mean NUTRITION (not "I'm on a diet"). I'm focusing on eating most - if not all - whole foods, and reducing my calorie intake to a healthy level. I've been reading a lot of books on nutrition lately, and I look forward to incorporating what I've learned into daily practice.

Personal Information:
I live and work in Washington, DC (which makes it difficult to leave work on time - everyone here is a workaholic!). In my spare time I read books, write fiction, play piano or guitar & sing, and sometimes I scrapbook and make jewelry (among other crafty things). I also enjoy acting but it doesn't fit into my schedule right now. I am also a FLYbaby!!!

Other Information:
You have to realize what makes you happy. The kitchen always does that for me.

emoticon to the Positive Sparkers Team. It's a great place to get a dose of positivity, and who can resist some positivity? That positive attitude is what helps most of us reach our goals and enjoy the journey while getting there. No matter how long that journey takes or how daunting it sometimes seems. We have amazing members of all ages, weights, and places where we live..but we all are determined to reach our goals with positive enthusiasm. With a little effort on your part and lots of support on our part, we can reach our goals!!
